Technology

Technology is defined as any application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes such as survival and control of one's surroundings. Every known sufficiently advanced species of sophont relies on technology in some form or other, especially those who are spacefaring. There are different types of technology, with civilizations making use of both inorganic and organic mechanisms to bend their environments to their whims. Technology is a very important part of galactic society; civilizations are often evaluated by their technological level more than their social structures and tendencies as a measure of their advancement on the path to the Final Singularity stage.
