Amelisian
Amelisian is a settlement nestled into the The Anvil Mountains. At first there were rumours of harpies and people avoided the area. However, after one desperate couple was aided rather than hurt by the Sisters, they discovered that despite their monstrous appearance, the harpy sisters were wise and just wanted a peaceful life with no trouble. They were proficient in herbalism and healing and divination. And over time it became a pilgrimage location.
People looking for answers would come to the Wise Sisters for predictions and healing. Over time people who believed in the holistic healing happening here came and asked to learn from the Sisters. Slowly a shanty town arose with tents and lean-tos erected to shelter those who came to learn.
A few people started trying to develop new healing methods, building on what they learned from the Sisters and some even started travelling to commune with the dead to find out what happened to them. Asking their symptoms etc. and working on understanding how the body worked.
Over time, they developed species specific information about healthy living and things that were not healthy. The pilgrims who stayed also shared with visitors the ways of living a healthy and long life. They are now a famous seat of research and knowledge.
Nowadays the Harpy Sisters are revered as Wise Women and not feared despite the reputation other harpies have. Even rulers have come seeking wisdom and so they have an interesting kind of power and influence.
Industry & Trade
For the most part they are self sufficient, but pilgrims do bring gifts of food, herbs and animals from their locale to offer in payment.
Infrastructure
A few wooden huts and tents form the main parts of this settlement. There is a stone cooling box next to the stream and there is a communal cooking fire with drying racks, and and food storage in huts on tall legs with rope ladders to protect it from scavengers.
