The Lost Wilds

The Lost Wilds is a famously unforgiving jungle region on Aikhulura. A number of factors make it particularly dangerous, including the dense jungle, extreme weather, and predators. Those who have tried to explore it from the ground to map it have almost always vanished into the jungle, never to return. Some legends claim the Wilds are cursed.

Geography

The Lost Wilds are a vast, undeveloped region of jungle. As the Vishith never put in any large scale road infrastructure when they came to Aikhulura, since they already had advanced airships, regions between settlements are largely untouched. The jungle encompasses a massive river basin that feeds into a turbulent river. Some explorers have followed some such tributaries, but few ever returned. The coast borders one side of the jungle, and a mountain range borders the other side.

Fauna & Flora

The dense, rich jungle of the Lost Wilds holds incredible biodiversity. The large, flowering plants upon which shelters protecting Aikhuluran Homes are based on can be found here. Some local fauna are particularly dangerous, including several species of predators. Fortunately, they tend to keep to the jungles and don't tend to wander near settlements very often.

Natural Resources

A few logging operations have attempted to set up shop in the past, but a series of accidents forced all of them to close not long after showing up. Some say the region is cursed. Aside from wood, other natural resources from the region have gone largely untouched, aside from a mine located within the jungle, to which workers and supplies are air-dropped. Though the mine itself is fairly safe, workers know better than to enter the surrounding jungle. The Vishith value the natural state of much of their world, and work hard to protect it.
