The Sultanate of Anshear

The Sultanate of Anshear is the largest and wealthiest nation in Archadon. It resides to the far south of the continent of Ralon, separated from it's northern neighbors by the @Sand-Guard Mountains

Culture

The Sultanate of Anshear values a few things above all else, wealth and power. The average citizen strives to amass great quantities of wealth to achieve some semblance of power. This leads the people enjoying lavish displays of wealth be it in the form of art or festivals. They always enjoy a good time.

Public Agenda

The Sultanate of Anshear's main goal is to increase their influence over the neighboring nations of Arcwind, Slaren, and Whitemane. Their reasoning for this is speculated to be a simple desire to amass more wealth and to secure their northern borders. A common trend for Anshari sultans

Assets

Anshear has many gold and silver mines in the country that is their main source of income, a lot of which is used to maintain a sizable fleet of ships and standing army to protect their assets from raiders and pirates.

History

Founded a mere 10 years after The Sundering, the Sultanate of Anshear had a rough start. Monsters roamed the newly created desserts and preyed upon the humans trapped there. The first Sultan, Marduk el Hamin, banded together many wayward groups of people and settled in what would later be the city of Dashar.

Demography and Population

The Sultanate of Anshear holds dominion over the entire Great Desert of Anshar . The people who live here remain close to the coast or other sources of water as the dessert is inhospitable. People tend to have anywahere from 3-5 children per family and most people live in one of the large cities or or at least near them.

Territories

The Sultanate of Anshear occupies the Great Desert of Anshar, the largest desert in the known world. This is their ancestral home and they take a fierce pride in being able to survive within it. The only part of the nation devoid of habitation or life is the deadly salt flat know as The Boneyard. The east coast of the nation however is a hotspot for conflict as the Whitemane Theocracy desires this land for its vast quantities of minerals. And when the last war ended between them, the Theocracy was pushed all the way back to the The Sand-Guard Mountains but still maintains controll over the fortress the comands the mountain pass to Whitemane.

Military

The Sultanate of Anshear maintins the largest military in the known world. Of their troops, none are more feared than their fames battle-mages, masters of magic who rain aetheric death upon their foes.

Technological Level

The tech remains mostly simple but the greates edge they have is their architecture as it is able to reflect light in very specific ways and even be used defensively. The most advanced piece of conventional technology they have would be crossbows and various form of architectual designs. However, with magic they have many strange magical devices susch as magically cooled ocntains used to store food.

Religion

Anshear has no state mandated religion whatsoever, they nation even allows people to venerate entities that many see as pure evel, such as Demon Lords, Daemon harbingers, and Arch-Devils.

Foreign Relations

The Sultanate of Anshear maintiains neutral relation with all the nations of Ralon, with two exceptions. They do not reconginze the Shorgathi Khanate as a nation, and their have a tense and fragile peace wiht the Whitemane Theocracy.

Laws

Laws are created by the Sultan and his council of ministers and dispersed across the nation in large tomes to each major city, where the Vizier of each city apoints a select number of judges to learn them and rule on them if someone is caught commiting a crim. The nations military roots out criminals and watches for them on the city streets and if they cath a criminal they are thrown in prison until their trial. However, most punishements are seen as barbaric and cruel by other nations and mutilation and death are common punishments in Anshear. However, out in the desert, laws are barely maintained and crime is rampant. Bands of raiders plague the small villedges and even smaller towns across the nation.

Agriculture & Industry

Anshear grows a large quntitiy of food near the oases and rivers that exist in the nation. They are the largest producer of gold and silver ore in the known world and have large industries associated with them. They also are the largest producer of sandstone in the world.

Trade & Transport

Trade caravans or merchant vessels move goods through or around the dessert. Primarily Anshari merchants trade jewelry with the outside world while internally food is the most popular commodity.

Education

Education is readily available in larger cities, however in small towns across the dessert many people remain uneducated.

Infrastructure

Anshear maintains no permanent roads as they would be covered by the ever shifting sands of the dessert. They do have large port cities however. For defenses they maintain numerous border forts in the The Sand-Guard Mountains.

  • Ichmur - A large city nestled in the heart of the country along the Anhini River. This city is a central hub of trade for the nation and is massively welthy. Any caravan looking to trade in Anshear will find themselves in the city sooner or later.
  • The Boneyard - A massive salt flat that rumors say harbors a vast untapped fortune deep within it.
Currency
The use a system of coins that are minted in the capitol of Dashar.
  • Copper - Copper coins minted in the Sulatanate are called 'Dahr' and are marked with the image of a sand dune on both sides
  • Silver - Silver coins minted in the Sultanate are called 'Dahr-ri' and are marked with the image of the sand guard mountains on both sides.
  • Gold - Gold coins minted in the Sultanate are called 'Dahr-ri-sah' and are marked with the image of the capitol city, Dashar.
  • Platinum - Platinum coins minted in the Sultanate are called 'Dahr-ri-sah-tur' and are marked with the image of the current ruling Sultan on one side, and the previous one of the other.
  • Each coin is worth ten of its smaller varitations, which is standared across Ralon. In the Sultanate people typicaly call the coins only by the last part of their name.

Anshear leads in gold and silver exports to other nations, as well as sandstone.

Most types of food are imported into Anshear as well as cloth for clothes and building materials such as wood.
Legislative Body
When the Sultanate needs a new law, the Sultan will call for a council of his ministers to gather. The ministers will discuss their opinons on the new law before the Sultan before he makes the final descision on the law.

Each cities Vizier is the one who decides the interpretation of the law, however, if the Sultan is displeased by their interpretation of their rules, they may be replaced.

The Viziers ensure that the people of their cities follow the law to the best of their ability, on paper at least. The nations military keeps the peace as the defacto police of the nation.
