Tenebrii Arcathi: The final death

Most people have a clean death. Whether they fall to the edge of the blade, or simply never wake, the souls depart without a conscious state.   Rarely, people will defy death and step into the afterlife, even though their hearts still pump it's fluids. Intentional or not, flesh and bone disintegrates when it passes through the veil and leaves nothing but a conscious soul.   This soul never enters the mystical weaves and either remains in the world as a shadow of it's past self, or is flung out into the endless void.   For the few unlucky to pass away into nothingness, there is but one who eagerly awaits for his new guests to appear at his gates. Tenebrii Arcathi.

Geography

Within the void, natural laws have no power. Lava is as cold as the icy seas, while warm water is solid as stone. Even the cosmos seems inverted, as darkness shines bright and the shadows are devoured by the light.   It's a world with a lifeless lunar ground that remains covered by a permanent, blood chilling fog. In it’s skies the winds of other souls flash past in less than the blink of an eye, while everything else is an entropic madness, that requires all sanity and order to be cast away if anything is to make sense.

Localized Phenomena

While the void has no flora, nor real fauna, it's still filled with tumors of growing flesh that develop it's tissues from cocoons of tentacles and tendrils that sprout from the ground. It's these traps that draw the lost souls in and catch them. The memory is then assailed by nightmarish thoughts as the tendrils start to materialize a new shell and body from their victims' thoughts.   When the abominations have been built, the now once more living people are let go and lead towards the Spine's Vortex.

The eldritch grounds:

A weird, gray landmass in the middle of nowhere. A birthplace for the Voidborne, that are later collected by the elder ones and brought into training groups that later become battalions of fearsome warriors, wielding both eldritch and corruptive energies into battle. The plains serve as a proving ground where each and every soul is tested both physically and mentaly before they may ascend to become champions of the void.    

The Vortex Spine:

A morbid tower that is built from bones and skulls of long forgotten races. A palace serves as a ground for this pillar, and an eternal residence to the champions of the void, and their gateways that lead the corrupted lifeforms back to conquest in their old worlds.
