Lyone

Demographics

The majority of citizens that reside within this capital of the order are mainly that of humans and halflings, both from the cultural ethnicity of Paragian, though Gothian and Loreni people also make up a portion of it's populace. The majority of the populace also make up for a middleclass, based around either maritime trade, fishing and military service.

Government

Though the city was once ruled by the Lionheart family alone, as a monarchy, Lyone is nowadays run by a governoring council aside of their Dux, whom keeps tab on the different aspects of law, such as tax, trade, regulations of magic as well as overseeing construction of infrastructure and upholding a proper army and fleet for the city and it's surrounding regions. To help with this, the council's members have help from different organizations, that are all part of the order as well.   The grand army which protect all of Brietaine, is known as the Blueblood Lionborne which is also considered their royal as well as national guard. Their Marshals are part of the government and responsible for ensuring the battalions are well maintained and correctly positioned at all times. Oddly enough, the Dux himself also help oversee this military, since he is one of the best generals the order has.   For Maritime defence, the The Royal Marines have a bunch of Captains on their own, which patrol the surrounding seas of their western coast, to fend of pirates, protect traders but also oversee that there are no illegal goods shipped too or from their shores.   Commerence, such as legislaiton for what goods can be traded and how much tax it costs of importing and exporting a ware, is handeled by the international Merchants Guild, accompanied by a locally entrusted governor to run it.   For the rest of laws, such as what infrastructure should be built, maintaining of local guardforces, wages and cultural quearies, the Parliament of Brietaine exists with a majority of the council's governors to ensure the whole region is stable. The parliament also serves as the main core of the government, as the trunk to all other branches.

Defences

To assure the protection of it's citizens, Lyone is built much like a maze, though instead of hedges it's the waterways. If one where to invade, they'd first have to make their way past the great starshaped wall of stone bricks, which has a total of eight towers with mortars, combined with harpoons and cannons around the three layers of wall, filled with plenty more firing slots for cannons and rifles inside of them.   Should the walls be breached, what further awaits are the narrow streets, which would make small boats a viable tactic to mount moving and defendable positions through the street, as long as they can avoid the webb of battlements which run across every roof of every building in the city. The milita as well as military, would hide within the buildings and move across the walls to fire at any intruder in the streets, some even with cannons, organ guns and even a few gattlings that have been hidden within.   Should even this fail, or the mortars of the towers be occupied, Castle Lionheart makes the last defensive position for the city to make it's last stand. From one of it's towers, there is a larger mortar set up, which has the sole purpose of blowing up the smaller ones if they are lost to the enemy. This all is also just hypothetical, should their already powerfull navy fail to defend it's borders from assault.

Industry & Trade

Sean and Co's Fishery - A large fishing company which alone stands for most of the food shipped into the city. Freshly caught and cheap prices. It is a well known fact, that only the the best, most capable and experienced of fishmongers are allowed to work on the high seas for them, as the waters are a cruel and uncaring mistress. The company has also done the citizens of the city a good service by hiring novice fishers in gathering samples for them in the canal seas, that they use to determine how clean the waters are. Their warehouses, stores and private wharf's can be found all over the city.   Brilliant Baubles - A famous jewelery store which both work at sea to dive after pearls and at home within the city to create fine jewelery pieces out of them. As they do not magically enchant their wares like most jewelers do, there is a wide demand for their neutral goods, which has helped Lyone grow in wealth as well as culture. In fact, most citizens of Lyone can be found wearing something made of pearls, due to how common they are to be found. Enough for a poor man to be able and afford something cheap, as long as they buy it in the city - where as overseas trade skyrocket the price from a mere hundered Reiksdaler to tens of thousand. There exists in total two stores within the city, a massive one within the trade district, as well as a smaller one within St. Pious Square.

Infrastructure

Lionheart Royal Shipyards - Stretching around the whole northern coast of the city, is the blue and white coloured royal docks and shipyards. Crafted from stone and marble, with plenty of silver and gold statues around it's park-like square, beyond it's central castle this waterfront is the most decorated and expensive location of the whole region, as it was built long ago by the Lionhearts, sparing no expense to make it as impressive as possible. Nowaday, it serves as the headquarters of the Royal Marines, along with the creating some of the finest frigates of all the lands.   Grizrats Sludgeworks - For every city or major town that needs fuel for it's electricity, such as streetlights to light up the night, telephones for the rich or radio links for the military officials to keep tabs on each others with, or a cinema or two to keep the local citizens happy with, there is sure to be at least one goblin greedily rubbing their hands. Hence, exactly all of the aforementioned exist, due to the coal factories established by goblin entrepreneurs.   Lyone Waterways - Rather than by cobbled roads, the streets of Lyone are all surrounded by canals and waterways, which have been built to prevent the city from flooding. Though the waterways does not run all around the city only to ensure that the narrow pathways are above sea level. They are also there because it's slightly easier to transport everything around the peninsula with small ferries, as well as hinder enemies from attacking via the great bridge that connects them to the mainland.

Districts

St. Pious Square - A public park district which also serves as the host for governmental buildings, such as their parliament and court. It's shaped like circles of cobblestone that intersect one another, with patches of grass in the middles, that harbour different plants and trees. This square is also famous for it's Cinema Royale, which was the first movie theatre to exist. As this square also connect the docks with the central castle, the park shares somewhat in the same expensive decor, worthy of high nobility.   Lyone Western Avenue - The western residency, which can also be considered the industrial district, where most of the factories, forges and workshops can be found.   Lyone Trade District - The southmost district, which faces the sea closest to friendly trade harbours. Hence, this is the one district where most merchandise is shipped, along with the location of embasies, guildhalls and headquarters for local guardforces.   Lyone East Boulevard - The most populated of all the districts. The bridge which crosses the handmade river that separates the peninsula from the mainland, known as the Crownbridge, resides here. This district also has a stable accompanied by a fair share of storehouses as it's the last desination where horsecarriages will easily fit.   Central Lyone - a small private park district in the center of the city, where a hill rises above the street levels. This place makes for the main HQ of the royal family within it's central castle, as well as for the army and navy. Beyond the castle, this district also harbour a wall with six towers, filled with cannons, mortars and defensive positions, as it also serves as the last stand bastion, should the city fall.

Assets

Normanic Riflery - A chain of worshops based in Normania which specializes not just in manifacuring weapons, but also in tweaking, finetuning and rebuilding what already exists. Quite popular for both the army, navy and even civilians to visit to upgrade or create their own self defence tools. They can be found in the Western Avenue.   Barrkadi Tonic's and Elixirs - A store that sells medicine both for people as well as animals, combined with a host of other stuff like cleaning agencies, empowering vials and boosting potions.   Ghymnar's Forge - An oldschool forge for weapons and plate, ran by a group of halflings and a dwarf with an ill temper. Peculiarely popular among the city nobles who loves a good old sword and helmet that is still effective even in this era of fire and gunpowder.

Guilds and Factions

Raven Company - Found in the Western Avenue, an office for mercenaries and other guntottin' folks to find work at, be it helping out the military in securing the borders, dealing with bounty hunts or protecting caravans that travel into the less safe and secure areas, that the Order of the Falcon controls.   Mystral Union - A mage's guild which reside in one of the wall's towers, within the trade district. Though they are not the most popular choice in Lyone, they're still a most welcome benefactor that are often visited by nobles that may want an enchant or two, as well as people who wish to learn the arts.   Fighters Guild - The fighters guild are oddly popular in Lyone, for a modern city which prefers to use guns and riflery over heavy plates and shields. They can be found in St.Pious Square though, as they often hold tourney's in the park as well as aid in training the navy to fight with blades, as they often require to clash in closer combats on the seas.

Points of interest

Castle Lionheart - The central castle which keeps watch over the city, as well as the home for the royal family. Known for it's white and blue stone walls, as well as intricate almost fairyland shaped style.   The Crownbridge - The massive bridge which links the city as well as the peninsula it resides on, with the rest of the mainland.
