Not many known Armand Colby. To some, he was part of the founding party of Arcanum. To many, he was only known as the Shadow Twilight's circle of friends. All we knew was that he was instrumental to the final battle that instigated the creation of Arcanum City and one of the friends in the Shadow Twilight's circle, as a genius of the group. He was the mysterious man who was the driving force of the Shadow Twilight's victory.
While it's not far off from the truth, Armand did have a secret. That he was in a pact with a demon named Nal and they worked together to help the Shadow Twilight and solved their cases when away from the party until his death. While initially seen as a controversial figure in history, he has later seen as one of the pioneers of Arcanum as well as the pivotal figure to the Umbra's stance as one of the races who helped steer the Arcanum City's modernization.
Rumors say that he's reincarnated as Augustine Sycamore as well as his "alternate" persona, Armand Vale.

Special abilities
As the host and human contractor of Demon Nal, Armand possessed several darkness-based abilities. He could manipulate shadows and darkness into several weapons and even create a field of darkness that obscures his targets' vision by about 10-15 meters around him. He also possessed an innate ability to sense darkness in their hearts and read their surface's thoughts.
Due to his connection with Nal, his frail body strengthened tenfold, allowing him to run for about 1 hour without any signs of exhaustion, and he became nimble to the point he was able to dodge any ranged projectiles with ease. And after being trained by several professionals, he was adept with karate, judo, kendo, and parkour.

Personal history
Armand was born in an unknown French village known for its suspicious views on outsiders and the occult behind its creation. He was known to be bullied by other boys in the village due to his meek and naïve personality and unlike other residents, he only lived with his mother after his father died during a hunt, which his family was seen as cursed afterward. Adding to his feeble body, he spent his difficult childhood with little to no peace.
One day, he was forced to enter a mysterious cave near the village by his bullies when he fell into it and was abandoned after they thought he fell to his death. As he suffered in near-starvation, Armand met a mysterious living shadow who offered to help him out of the cave if he shared his wish so they could fulfill it someday. The shadow expected him to wish for his bullies' downfall. But feeling the loneliness for all of his life, Armand instead wished for a friend in the shadow. They were shocked by his wish, yet they grant it for their sake and bailed him out of the cave, saving his life and becoming his host in the process.
However, his sudden reappearance in the village caused the village people to grow more suspicious of the young boy. Even if his mother only cared for Armand's safety as she was relieved to see him safe and sound, their treatment of the family remained the same. As time passed, however, that suspicion turned into paranoia as some children reported to the leader that they saw him talking to nothing by himself. Some of Armand's bullies even told them that he suddenly pushed them away with great strength when they tried to attack him without laying a finger (when in reality, Nal was the one who pushed them away). At that point, they couldn't ignore this issue any longer and they had to take action.
Before Armand knew it, they declared him a demon and he and his mother found themselves on the gallows as the many people he saw as neighbors were seeking his death. But just as they could stab him, a mysterious young man who proclaimed himself as a "Shadow Twilight" named Riyoku came into their village along with his party. To their shock, the queen of the dark kingdom saw what the village had become all because of this unique, young boy. Because of this revelation, they condemned the village and took Armand and his mother away from it.
As he left his village for the final time, he was approached by the Shadow Twilight, and curious about his strange abilities, Riyoku offered him a place in his party, promising he would find peace and restart his life as his party member. Armand was reluctant at first due to Nal sharing his suspicions about the party, but upon sensing Riyoku's selfless and kind heart underneath his darkness, he convinced Nal to trust him and accepted his offer.
Thanks to Queen Himura's connections, Armand moved to Paris in another world and lived his new life with Riyoku's party while getting a proper education. And thanks to his training with the queen and a mysterious wizard's tutelage, he was not only able to control his newfound powers, but he started to learn Nal's true nature as a demon, yet he still accepted him as his friend.
As an adult, he became an independent crimefighter and world traveler while still affiliated with Riyoku and his party. Until the end of his life, he continued to take jobs and saved several worlds on some occasions.

Not has known about Armand's romantic relationships, but it was rumored he was bisexual.
Education
After Armand moved to Paris, he was homeschooled by one of the royal tutors of Yumeji who were rumored to be strict, yet was also rumored to endure it without any complaints. Eventually, at the age of 15, he was admitted into Porte du Crépuscule High School and graduated there at 19 years old. He eventually enrolled at the University of Paris and graduated with majors in Linguistics and Psychology.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Not has known about Armand's achievements, but it was rumored that he rescued the whole world from a civil war of shadows. It was also rumored he encountered a mysterious world called the "8th Wanderer" alongside the Visitor from Another and another demon.

Motivation
Possessing a kind heart and a curious mind, Armand wanted to see the world and help those in need. After meeting Nal, he has anti-nihilist views on darkness, believing that they are not always evil and corrupted. Because of this, he vowed to use his darkness to defend himself, and his demon shared his sentiments.
