Arcanum City

The capital city of Core, Arcanum is home to the main headquarters of the Council and several known guilds and agencies such as Adventurer's Guild and Detective's Hub.   It is also portal hub, housing several train stations and portals to any allied worlds.

Demographics

Race-wise, most of the residents are human while half of them are Bestias, Elit, and Incorrupta Tenebrosus. The lower areas are occupied by Umbra and Amplexus Tenebrosus.   Most of the inhabitants in the city are associated with several guilds. 50% of them are Adventurers, 25% are Detectives, 15% are Shadows, and 10% are Portal Keepers and Cyber Mages.

Government

The city itself is run by two bodies, the Council and the Mana Monarchy. The monarchy runs the city and the Twai Country with the district leaders managing the city districts and the High Guardian in charge of the laws degreed by the Council and the monarchy.   The Council, on the other hand, is responsible for maintaining the laws imposed on the Guilds and the Rune Masquerade itself. If there is a major violation of the laws including the Masquerade or a disaster occurs that may threaten the balance of the multiverse, the Council will swiftly respond and works alongside the other parties to ensure the situation is dealt with and sometimes, worked together with the World Representatives and the participating bodies to maintain the masquerade.

Districts

Being a large city, there are 7 districts with 3 of them only accessible to Guild members. All of them are handled by several District Leaders and some of them are residential districts that allow any foreign residents to live in the city if possible. Some of them have several train stations and portals that let them travel from one world to another.

Guilds and Factions

Along with the Council, there are about 6 guild headquarters available in Arcanum. There are an Adventurer's Guild's main headquarters, Detective's Hub, Portal Keepers, Shadow's Hideout, Cyber Agency's hub building, and the Guardian headquarters. There are also unofficial factions hidden inside the lower areas such as crime mafias, independent criminals, and unregistered vigilantes.

History

Before the modern era, Arcanum City was formerly the kingdom of Neu in the middle of Cor. For many years, the world has been living a near-infinite civil war to claim territories and artifacts that were meant to protect or destroy the world depending on the user. The resulting battles and casualties caused most towns, cities, and villages to fall in terms of budget and resources. Some of the nobles shared their concerns and complaints regarding the consequences of the war, but many remained silent or ignored due to many feeling it was too late to stop or some didn't care.   It wasn't until a young princess from an imperial country rebelled and not only reported running away against the emperor and empress's wishes, but she used an artifact that was supposed to be dangerous with ease. Alongside her 2 best friends and 4 companions, they formed a party that slowly exposed several nobles who abused the consequences and found the source behind the war. Eventually, the war was over and the princess became well-known as the girl who stopped the near-infinite war that would have destroyed the world.   After she became empress, she worked together with representatives from other worlds she befriended to rebuild the settlements destroyed by the war and discussed what they will do with the artifacts and powerful locations that have the potential to be abused in the wrong hands. Eventually, they decided to form a special group dedicated to not only protecting them from evil hands and the people living in Cor but to research and working together with undiscovered worlds to ensure the peace of the multiverse. Thus, the Council and the Defenders were born.   After the Council and Defenders were established, a new plan was formed to reform the world of Cor and a special protection program as part of the then-new Rune Masquerade. Thus, the kingdom slowly turned into a city, and Neu was changed to a name they named to the tree that grew into a multitude of universes around them: Arcanum.

Points of interest

One of the main points in the city is the large Moon Tower due to the shining white color of the building and neon lights shining in the eternal night. It is also recommended to visit it during a full moon to see the tower in its full glory.   Another point is the Luna Cor Mall, the largest mall of Arcanum in the Lux District known for its unique architecture and the near-infinite selections of brands and food from other worlds available to purchase.
