Tiernan Diarmuid Ripple (a.k.a. Rip)

Tiernan Ripple was a half-elf adventurer from the continent named Votrura. He left behind his simple home for good and decided to head out on the ocean at the age of twenty-two.

Personal history

During his time at sea Tiernan explored a shipwreck far below the surface. There he found a black book which had somehow survived staying underwater for years upon years. Intrigued he went to pick it up, only to feel a chill down his spine the moment his fingers made contact with the black leather. He opened the book and found perfectly preserved writings, eyes widening in shock as he realised that they described his own dreams in perfect detail. Feeling as though someone was watching him he quickly spun around but no one else was there, yet the sensation lingered. He wanted to leave the book behind but he couldn't, now inexplicably linked to it and the entity for the rest of his life.
That same year Tiernan decided to leave the sea behind and left the ship at the harbour town of Seavind on the continent Euhukoa. There he fell in love with a woman named Amber Rolans. He warned her about the entity and told her that they shouldn't be together but Amber was willing to take the risk. They got to spend a few happy years together despite Tiernan's constant nightmares of the entity that he had never seen but knew was there.
Towards the end he couldn't say if the dreams were his own or implanted somehow by the entity controlling the book. He grew increasingly paranoid and thought that something was trying to control him through his dreams, that none of his decisions were actually his own. When he learned of Amber's pregnancy he decided that he was too dangerous for a child to be around while attached to the black book. He went out on a search for someone who could help him break the connection with whatever the entity was or for a means to destroy the book.
Tiernan never returned and how the book ended up in his home for his daughter to find remains a mystery.
