Altane

A city located on Ponowin Island, part of the Euhukoa Empire.
Altane has four districts; Lakeside Corner, Osterlane, Southport Avenue, and West Lummig. Lakeside Corner is the only district without a gate leading to the outside of the city. It is where the governor of Ponowin Island resides along with nobles and other rich people. Southport Avenue has a lot of shops and marketplaces as it has the gate leading out to the skyport and thus gets the most traffic from traders and visitors.

Government

A governor appointed by the Empress enacts her will in their ruling over Ponowin Island at large.
The city council, comprised by the heads of each guild operating in Altane and the captain of the city guard, represents the working class and their interests. Oftentimes the governor leaves decisions concerning Altane entirely to the council.

Defences

The outer wall is made of stone and is twenty feet tall. It has three gates; the west gate, the east gate and the south gate. The northeast part of the wall borders a lake and a moat has been dug under it, surrounding the governor's abode just inside of the wall. There are four districts in the city, separated by inner walls that are also made out of stone. The gates between areas have portcullises that close at nighttime, and they are guarded at all times.

Infrastructure

The most notable is the skyport located just outside of the city's outer walls. It is the official port for all of Ponowin Island and thus receives almost daily traffic of airships coming and going with wares for trade and/or travellers from other islands. There are several towers with large cargo lifts as well as smaller lifts carrying only people up and down. The airships dock to the towers and only lower to the ground if in need of repair of any kind. For repairs there is a big hangar. There are also other smaller buildings used for administration, as warehouses or waiting rooms for passengers.
Towards the middle of the city just before the walls of the districts intersect there is a large temple of Bahamut. It is located in Southport Avenue and stands like a shining beacon to all visitors and inhabitants of the city. The outside is coated entirely with a metal made to look like platinum and during particularly sunny days it is almost blinding to look at. In the middle of the temple roof juts out a tall tower that is visible from almost anywhere in Altane. The inside has walls of a plain white colour to allow the large statue of Bahamut in the main room to be the focal point of everyone's attention. The windows are stained glass and depict Bahamut and some of his famous champions of the past.

Assets

The Terrace

A tavern located in the district of Altane named Southport Avenue. The main seating area is on the second floor in a large area open to the outside. It does have a roof as cover and there are sliding walls around the sides but they are kept open most of the time except for in winter. There is a big fire pit at the centre of the terrace. The bar is located inside but the sliding doors to that section are always open while customers are there.

The Secret Grove Inn

Located in Southport Avenue a couple of blocks from The Terrace. Built out of wood and stone in three stories it is almost overgrown with climbing plants. Even while in the middle of a city it looks like a house you would find out in a clearing in the woods. The inside is decorated in warm tones and with plush furniture. The ground floor's walls are in plain colours but in every guestroom there's floral wallpapers.

The Bubbling Cauldron

A magic shop located on the west side of Southport Avenue. The owner is a seldom seen recluse. Instead the shop is tended by a young half-elf man named Adeuin Gresandolar. He's got short brown hair, tan skin and green eyes. He dresses in simple but clean and orderly clothes.
