The Iron Dogs

This gang is made up of former factory workers and laborers who have banded together to protect their own interests in the face of exploitation and abuse from the Factory Bosses. The Iron Dogs are named after the iron that is used in the factories and are known for their toughness and resilience. They are not afraid to use violence to get what they want, and they have a reputation for being brutal and ruthless. The Iron Dogs have a strict hierarchy and are led by a single leader, who is chosen by the gang members through a process of trial by combat. The Iron Dogs are involved in a variety of illegal activities, including theft, extortion, dog fighting and sabotage exclusively targeting factories but leaving workers out of any fighting, but they also offer protection to other Twigs residents who are being oppressed by the Factory Bosses or other powerful figures in the city.
"The Iron Dogs may be rough around the edges, but they've got a code of honor and they stick to it. If you're in trouble and you need someone to have your back, they're the ones you want." - An anonymous Twigs resident

Public Agenda:

Publicly the Iron Dogs oppose the Factory Bosses and pretty much anyone else who tries to claim to have authority within the Twigs. They have been branded a terrorist and criminal organization by the The Green Cloaks but this has done little to change the public's perception of them. They are an honorable lot as long as you aren't one of the social elite in which case all bets are off. They do what they can to hamper any and all expansion of future factories within the Twigs stating that the only thing to come of more expansion would be greater exploitation of those already under the boot of the bosses and their ilk.

Public Perception

Lower Class

For those at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder the Iron Dogs are something of an underdog hero attempting to fight for those who have no voice. They will regularly hide or harbor many of their ranks when Greenies come looking and when questioned about their activities in the Twigs well they didn't see anything and if they did see something it certainly wasn't anything to do with the Iron Dogs.

Middle Class

The middles class have the unfortunate burden of being on the brunt of much of the Iron Dogs attacks as many of them are Factory managers or similar and thus when the dogs show up to rob or wreck the place often times it's they that have to pay the piper so to speak. As such they have both a healthy fear and a certain amount of hatred for the dogs who they see as disrupting honest people just trying to make a living.

Upper Class

Hatred wouldn't quite be the right word here, for those in the Upper class the Iron dogs are a cost of doing business paying for better guards to ensure factories aren't robbed on the daily bribing Green cloaks to patrol areas in the Twigs they normally wouldn't be caught dead in is just something you need to do to protect your assets and ensure profits continue to flow. However if the opportunity arose to wipe them all out none would hesitate to do so.

History:

With so many factories and the callous attitude many of the bosses take to worker safety and well being it is any wonder that a company like the Iron dogs was not born sooner. It's hard to say when the company was founded as leadership changes quite frequently and no one is keeping notes. However one thing is certain that the Iron Dogs started becoming more active as the number of factories and factory related deaths started approaching triple digits.   Maybe someone lost a son in the smelting pits or maybe a husband never came home from a long day at the factory. Whatever happened it was merely a spark for a greater movement. The Iron dogs have never been able to truly topple the bosses but they have made some progress in slowing the rate of expansion in the twigs and certainly they have made any expansion that did happen far more costly than it was before their involvement.   At some point in their history they became associated with an illegal dog fighting ring that takes place in a random location within the Twigs, the fights are brutal affairs dogs trained to use all manner of implements and attachments including some steam powered weaponry. They are truly brutal affairs often times ending the life of both dogs involved in such fights.   They use much of the proceeds from these fights to fund further actions against the bosses though some would say such barbaric activities actively hurt their cause though they would tell whoever was mentioning such things to mind their own business.

Attire / Common Garb / Quirks:

The Iron dogs are the working class of Arbor and so dress accordingly. One thing they do all share though is a tattoo of a kind of robotic dog usually on the shoulder. They are also almost always carrying weapons of a wide variety including Steam Pistols, blades or even simple lead pipes.

Structure and Hierarchy:

The Dogs maintain a strict single dictatorship like structure the choice of leader is chosen by a trial by combat so technically anyone can become the leader of the Iron Dogs but in practice few people want to mess with the current leaders and several people close to the current leader are quite "discouraging" of anyone making the attempt as gains by the company as a whole have lead to several key victories against the Factory bosses and have slowed or in some cases halted new factories being built. They are rough men and women from the working class and look it, they are not the clean or well kept, they are the average citizen of Arbor upset at the rampant greed they see every day and they have had enough.

Notable People:

Crusher "The Beast" Jackson: Crusher Jackson is the current leader of the Iron Dogs, and is known for his brutal and relentless style of leadership. He is a massive man, standing well over six feet tall and weighing well over 300 pounds, with thick muscles and a neck as wide as a tree trunk. Crusher is feared and respected by his fellow gang members, and is known for his ability to intimidate and coerce others into doing his bidding.   "Mad" Molly Mason: Molly Mason is one of the few female members of the Iron Dogs, and is known for her fierce and unpredictable nature. She is a skilled fighter, with a particular talent for wielding a pair of brass knuckles, and is feared by her enemies and respected by her fellow gang members. Molly is a wild card, with a short fuse and a volatile personality, and is not someone to be underestimated.   "Slim" Jim Thompson: Slim Jim Thompson is the Iron Dogs' resident mechanic and engineer, and is known for his technical expertise and his ability to fix just about anything. He is a thin and wiry man, with a quick mind and a sharp wit, and is respected by his fellow gang members for his skills and his resourcefulness.

Territory:

The Dogs have managed to control a single Branch within the Twigs no mean feat considering their nature and the constant harassment from Green Cloak and the Factory Bosses, They manage this through a combination of bribes to the local Greenies and intimidation tactics on the locals who aren't on board with their methods and ethos.

The Kennel - The Dogs stronghold and where they hold some of the dog fighting.
