Nagai Ogata

Achemist in Arbor are usually most known for their most famous creation. A potion, a new concoction or perhaps a tincture to reduce pain. Not so with Nagai, her contibution to the world is Bright an exceddingly dangerous magical enhancement drug that many would see wiped from the face of Arbor and the wider world. However what is less well known is Nagai's efforts to create safer versions of bright that might be beneficial for those to whom magic is not granted. This desire is what currently drives Nagai an attempt to put the genie back into the bottle and correct a mistake that she has had to live with and witness everytime a new victim of her legacy appears in the news.

Appearance

A 4 foot tall Goblinnoid woman, Nagai is constantly seen carrying her entire labratory on her back at all times, in case she comes across a case of out of control bright overdose she has all the tools on hand that are needed to diagnose and potentially treat it's victims. She has the classic green skin and long pointed ears associated with her race. She also relies on her glasses to see so is never without them.

Personality

Nagai is a woman driven to correct a mistake she made. Every step she taken in the city is in service to that, she believes she has caused more harm to Arbor and it's peoples than any single individual in it's long history. Because of this her personality is defined by it, she is a truly haunted individual seeing the faces of all of brights victims in her sleep and when she closes her eyes. Everything about this woman is trying to fix this, she has no time for anything else but she is not going to let there be anymore victims so in her wanderings of the city she still tries to help those she finds that have taken too much or just got unlucky.

Background

Nagai was a promising student of the Philosopher's Stone and while there she excelled in the areas of refining and transmutation of materials. Her teachers even thought at one time that she may succeed the Guild's master and take over one day. Of course all of this was not to pass but that talent is what led others to find the niave young apprentice and present her with a puzzle to solve.

A Lamentation Puzzle

When what was to be the The Dust Mites found her she was niave and far too trusting. They promised her a lab and assassitants and for a newly minted alchemist this was a dream and all she had to do was make this Dust stuff into something useful, she was all too eager to get started. Weeks and months of work later she had made the early versions of Bright. Of course the version on the street these days is in some ways more potent but in other ways far more dangerous.

A Genie freed

When she finished her inital finding she told them what the bright was capable of and created a detailed report on how to refine the dust. She told them that early experiments showed great promise people could have magic enhanced and even in some cases gain magic where there had been none, with no apparent side effects in her trials. Of course when production and sale really started to kick off and the accidents began occuring she raised her objections and for her trouble they attempted to silence her.

Restitution

When the attempt on her life failed she went into hiding focusing all her time and resources and researching the effects her creation was having, she realized the mites had been hiding much of the results from her, failures too disastrous for her not to notice and now it was out there so the only choice was how to stop it, and so now she spends every hour researching hoping to find some kind of better version or cure but so far there has been no success.

Some of her old collegues at the Philospher's Stone may still keep a door or two open for her on cold nights but otherwise she is in this crusade on her own.
