Korrigan

Small, fast, brave and lucky would probably be a good way to describe the Korrigan. They measure not much more than 4 feet for the tallest of them but more than make up for any lack of stature with the size of their hearts and umm hutzpah. The Korrigan are one of The First Ones a group that made their way across the Great Desert and founded Arbor centuries ago. Their place in society is one they've carved out for themselves in particular finding employment in tinkering and getting into places they shouldn't both fields of expertise where having small nimble fingers is a great benefit.
"The Korrigan may be small, but they're strong enough to handle the machinery. And if they can't, there's always more where they came from. The important thing is that they keep the gears turning and the profits flowing. Their welfare is the least of my concerns." - Unknown Factory Boss

Physical Characteristics

Physically the Korrigan are anywhere from 3 to 4 feet tall with pointed ears but otherwise no other discernible physical features that differentiate them from humans. In truth some shorter Fae Touched humans could pass for a member of the Korrigan though the second a dice was rolled everyone would likely know something was wrong.

Extraordinary Abilities

Unnaturally good luck and in rare occasions a small amount of natural magics, the Korrigan are a rare kind in the broader world in that even outside of Arbor and it's unusual environment they still have access to magics though no where near the amount that they have while inside the boundaries of the city.

History

The Korrigan arrived in Arbor as part of the Great Exodus, and were initially seen as a curious but harmless race of small humanoids. However, as Arbor grew and steam power and industrialization became the norm, the Korrigan were exploited for their skills as engineers and mechanics. They were often forced to work in dangerous conditions and were paid little in return.   As the gap between the rich and the poor grew, the ruling class saw the Korrigan as a convenient source of cheap labor. They believed that the Korrigan's small size made them ideal for working in tight spaces, such as the innards of steam engines and machinery. Additionally, the ruling class saw the Korrigan as being easy to control and exploit, given their relatively small numbers and lack of political power.   Despite their harsh treatment, the Korrigan remained in Arbor, drawn by the promise of a better life that the Great Exodus had once held. Over time, they developed a strong sense of community and banded together to survive and protect one another. However, they remained vulnerable to exploitation and were often subjected to dangerous working conditions and low wages.

Mechanics

The Korrigan take the place of three races in main dnd 5e they do not take the place of all sub races though as Deep Gnomes and Ghostwise Halflings are a part of the Touched/
