Blood Mead

With it's distinctive red hue there is little else in Arbor that is quite as distinctive in a glass as Blood Mead. Made from the honey harvested from some of the hives found in the lower layers of the Great Sky Highway, Blood Mead is enjoyed by many a worker at the end of a long day.

Appearance

Blood Mead shimmers with a deep, amber hue reminiscent of a setting sun. Its aroma is a delightful fusion of wildflower blooms and hints of the Great Tree's woody grandeur, invoking a sense of tranquility and enchantment.  

Taste

Upon the first sip, Blood Mead caresses the palate with a symphony of flavors. The initial sweetness of the honey harmonizes with subtle notes of woodland herbs, evoking images of sun-dappled glades and hidden forest secrets. As the mead lingers, a gentle warmth spreads from within, bestowing a revitalizing and invigorating sensation.  

History

Honey from the hives in the Great Tree are incredibly plentiful and was one of the first sources of sweetner in Arbor and where there is sweet often there is alcohol. First crafted by the Arborian Revelers early in the history of Arbor it's receipie and method has deseminated into the general populace and many make the stuff in their own homes or Pubs.  

Creation

There are more varieties of Mead in Arbor than their are leaves on the Great Tree though most still turn the same amber hue due to the colour of honey that the bees in the hives produce. True Blood Mead is produced by the Revelers but in such small batches as to not be even considered part of their fare these days. Otherwise the creeation of blood mead is a simple one acquire some honey, yeast and enough water and then ferment over weeks, some methods involve adding dream fruit or other aromatics but the mead is plenty flavourful without any of that.

Effects

Aside from the usual effects of alcohol the mead has no additional effects though does still have a low level of magic permeating it though what this could mean in concentrated enough varieties has not been investigated.
