Need to do Something!

Well, I need to do something. I am itching for a fight, but I don't believe there is a pit fighting ring around here. I am going to see if I can lend my services as protection for caravans or something. Maybe I can make some decent cash along the way. Wish me luck!

Something Is Different

Hello Siobhan,   I am writing this to let you know that the next time I see you, you will notice something different about me. Remember how you trained me to keep my shield up? Well, I followed your training to the letter. However, you could have never trained me for what happened next. All I can say is "OH NO, IT ALL WENT WRONG!"   I miss you Siobhan, but I'm so glad you weren't there to see what happened to me. We went after a Yeren. You would have been so proud. I didn't let my size get in the way of a good fight. It turns out the Yeren was actually Xaden wearing a cursed mask. It was a bloody mess. Xaden, our little halfling friend was now 6'10" and had the strength of 100 orcs, or so it felt. I never could have imagined in all of my life that a creature could take an arm and remove in a swift pull. It all happened so fast I can barely imagine it actually happened to me. He not only removed my shield arm as I was protecting myself but clubbed me with my own arm as well.   Thankfully the crew you met was able to act quickly before I came to more harm. I'm not entirely sure who healed me, I just remember feeling relief for just a moment before the rage took over. Fip was incredible as always, they all were. The fight did not last long, but it will have long lasting effects. Be sure to congratulate Vi and Xaden as they're about to add to the community. Don't let on to Xaden that you know what he did, I'm not sure he even understands or knows what he did.   Anyway, I'm not sure when or if I'm going to have a chance to send this letter, but understand you are missed more than you know. I keep you close with me on all of our adventures, as I wouldn't even be an adventurer if it wasn't for you. I hope to see you soon and maybe give you this letter as well. You know how I am with words. On paper, I'm a chatterbox, but put me in front of someone and I clam up tight. I'll see you soon enough and keep praying to whomever. It may keep me from losing more limbs.   Your Wild One,   Raesh All-Shell

Raesh's Fighting Chance

I've been itching to fight again. My magic is getting to be powerful, and I really must try it out some more. Maybe I'll try for one of the fighting pits. I can't just sit around right now. I want to find out what these powers can do! Maybe, with more use, I can learn to control what happens when my magic goes wild!   Anyway, I'm off to find a fighting ring and test my strength. Let's see how wild I can get!

Raesh Is On The Beat(Down)

I need to do something good for the community. Perhaps there is a deputy position I could take up in the area. I'm strong enough and certainly smart enough to stop some thugs trying something illegal here. I need to flex my muscles in any way I can this week before joining the others. I didn't learn to fight only to be useless for weeks on end. If there was a fighting tournament, I would certainly do that, but since I have not seen or heard of one, law enforcement is a good backup. Now where the hell do I find the authorities?

Z's LRMD goes marketeering!

Well, I suppose it's my job to get the minions, dang it I keep doing that; hirelings to get to work. Fip, our decisionist, says that we need to get our name out there since we literally just took over this company. So we have gathered 140 gold, and are using 100 of it to print pamphlets to get the word of our business out there. I think I may go with them this time since I literally cant think of anything else to do and be useful. I have received my company sending stone from a courier earlier this week. Someone is certainly working behind the scenes because I immediately got instructions, BY NAME, the moment I held the damn thing. It's an awesome little trinket except it has this absolutely infuriating ringtone that I cannot seem to change. (The ringtone is Never Gonna Give You Up, by Rick Astly)   So I am heading to the printers to get these pamphlets created. I don't really know our hirelings so I'm certainly not giving them 100 gold. Lathander only knows they might just take it and either keep it without doing the work, get absolutely trashed using it to party, or they might have surprised and actually used it for its intended purpose. So, I am headed to "Hairyfoot's Inking" to get these pamphlets printed.   Afterward Scree and I are going to go around with the hirelings to pass out pamphlets and then I'll get to really use my mothers skills in speechcraft. I learned everything I could from them. Too bad I couldn't learn their magic as well. Oh well, apparently being close to them has given me my own magic.   So with Scree as backup to make t=sure the hirelings stay in line, we are off to start our adventure of... talking to people. With Lathander as our copilot, we actually may have a chance of getting this business off the ground. Say good luck to us as we start the next step of our journey to fame and riches!

Something Magical Happened!

Hello Journal!   Well, I'm not entirely sure how to put this, but I HAVE MAGIC! I mean I can't control it at all, but when I was sparring with Siobhan today, and when I raged, flowers and vines grew around me tripping her up and I was able to use it to my advantage. We tried it again after I calmed down and a beam of light burst from my chest hitting her square! I was worried about her because I mean, chest beam, but CHEST BEAM!!!   Siobhan and I are going to continue testing the limits of my new abilities. We shall see what new and amazing opportunities are coming next!

Raesh All-Shell Summary

Hello Again. It's difficult to write in this journal, especially after my latest bout with Siobhan. I think I smashed my hand against my shield when she went struck me as I almost lost footing in the mud. I swear, my rage is one of my greatest assets, but it gets a little weird from time to time. It's like I can feel something just bursting to get out! Every time I enter a rage, even Siobhan will step away from me for half a second. Like she can't understand what she's just seen, even though I have raged in front of her countless times since we began training. I still can't believe my parents found a dragonborn, especially a blue one. I also can't believe they convinced her to train me when I was so hopeless back then.   Siobhan gave me my first weapon, a club. She told me "If you can't break something, bend it." May as well have been a stick of tinder when we had our first bout. She had me doing the same attacks on dummies for years to train and learn how to attack properly. She is all about perfection and every slip in my form is ridiculed. That's okay, coming from a family of magic users when you can't conjure a breeze comes with learning how to let ridicule and scorn slide off your shell. Siobhan is very strict in our training but she has the most beautiful voice. Her poetry is amazing. Other's don't feel the same but I can't get enough of it. She won't let me correct those who get downright rude when they hear her poetry though. She's proud like that. Halflings are the best creatures, that's why I've done so many jobs that I'm practically the town hero. However, it wasn't always that way.   I was the joke of the town until Siobhan taught me how to toughen up and fight without magic. I still remember the first time their awful words sent me into a rage. I screamed "COWABUNGA" at the top of my lungs and rushed Joyas Littlebrook, shoulder and shell first. I swiped at him multiple times but the little bastard only got his shirt shredded. Thankfully my other friends stood up for me when the little liar said my "attack" was unwarranted. I'm sure that's the other reason Siobhan came into my life. If I was going to go apeshit on an idiot, I guess mon and dad wanted to know I could control myself when I went nuts. I still scream cowabunga to this day. It was a word my original father taught me when he spoke of tortle warriors before they died. Siobahn makes sure that when I get enraged, I can use it properly instead of just flailing at an opponent. Siobhan is a special part of the family. My parents needed a sellsword for a particularly dangerous delivery and liked her so much that she became the family bodyguard and my personal trainer. Sidenote, I like to drive the cart when mom and dad do deliveries. We often go to Frandlyn to deliver and trade wares. That's also where I got to know my friend Fip, or "brittlehorn" if he's being particularly ornery that day. We became friends after I killed a spider for him and now when we hang out I am both friend and spider exterminator.   I remember the first day I landed a solid blow against Siobhan. She had gifted me with a warhammer for improving in my fighting style, but I still had yet to do any damage to her during training. I was having a particularly awful moment that day as some idiot tried to mess up my favorite tavern for giggles. They have the best anchovy pizza and "Pirates Punch"! I wasn't going to let that stand! However, I didn't do so hot in that fight and while I did take care of him, he got too many good hits on me as well. SO Siobhan was pissed and took me out to fight her right after I just ended the brawl in the tavern. She kept ridiculing every move I made. I was hurt, angry and she kept belittling me for not ending the fight quicker. So as usual I entered my rage and for the first time she faltered half a second for me to land a blow with my hammer across her snout. Knocked a tooth loose and I was never so scared. She actually spit it out and we dueled harder than ever. After the bout she took the tooth I had knocked loose and gave it to me as a necklace later that night. Said I deserved a trophy for "such fine form". Thanks to that, I have this weird obsession of removing a tooth from every opponent I have to "end". I asked her that day why she stuttered during her attack in the bout but just had a faraway look and wouldn't say anything about it.   (Later that week...)   I just finished one of Siobhan's poetry reads. I always love her stories, but this one was about a man who got bricked into a wall. It reminded me of when my family found me. I used to live in Verala. I don't remember much about the day the Hill Giants came, but I do remember my first parents putting me in the closet right before I heard the snaps of my house collapsing. If it wasn't for my shell I know I would have died with them. I was under that rubble, stuck in my shell and the rubble was so heavy. My shell was the only safe spot for me to exist. My halfling mom and dad did find me when they heard about the destruction. They searched the houses for survivors and they dug me out. Found me with a locater scroll. Thank whoever for that little piece of magic. To this day though, thinking about tight spaces other than my shell sends me into fits. I can usually fight off the feelings by holding onto Siobhan's tooth and remembering my training, but that story hit particularly hard today. I wonder of Siobhan and I shouldn't try to do something a little adventurous. Maybe that will get her to come up with a poem that doesn't try sending me into a fit. Anyway, I'm going to the tavern for pizza and punch! That always makes me feel right as rain.

Raesh Sub-Class

Raesh is a wild-magic barbarian, though he does not know that yet. His halfling family has tried over and over to teach him magic, but he cannot harness it like they do, not even to cast the simplest of spells. When his family visited Isondale, Fip would often try to teach him how to cast spells with the same disappointing results. He has grown to use his rage to focus his energies and make himself stronger in battle, but this will eventually come out as wild magic and have strange effects. So really, Raesh did not choose the path, but it was inevitable considering the training and ambient magic he has been around for most of his life.

Raesh's Additional Character Depth

a. What is your character's greatest fear?   Claustrophobia. He hates to be in an enclosed space that he feels he cannot get out of. Funny enough, he loves to be in his own shell during such times because he was found under the rubble of his home by the halfling family that took him in, and his shell is all that protected him from dying that day. b. include how your character handles that fear, how they might react if they are put in a situation involving the fear.   First he holds on the the tooth given to him by Siobhan, if it gets worse he may retract into his shell until he can get his head on straight again and work through the fear. c. You cannot state, "my character doesn't fear anything", however; it is possible your character doesn't realize he/she/it fears something. Step 4: Answer the following questions: a. In what place where you born?   Raesh was born in Verala. He lived there for a very short time until the hill giants destroyed it, killing everyone he knew and loved. He now lives in Dewbreak with his halflng merchant family. b. What is your citizenship status there?   In Dewbreak, he's a full fledged folk hero! c. What is your favorite food, and/or drink?   Anchovy Pizza and Pirate's Punch! d. What did you do before becoming an adventurer and is it reflected in your background based on the tool sets you are provided with?   He used to assist his family in tinkering with any non-magical item he could get his hands on, and also helped drive the cart when his family would trade magical goods with Fip's family and others in Isondale. f. Do you have any first level feats, if so, why? What happened, what did you do, or how did you come about acquiring that feat, or feats?   He currently has the "Lucky" feat. His halfling family made sure to teach him about being aware of his surroundings and using his size to his advantage.

Raesh's Character Flavor

Weapons/Armor   1. Does your character have a particular weapon that they will choose to use regardless over all other weapons? Why does your character choose to only use this weapon(s)? Do they avoid sharp piercing/slashing weapons because they were horribly injured during an accident? Please be specific.   Raesh enjoys the warhammer because Siobhan taught him bludgeoning is a quick way to get through armor, even when you cant pierce the armor. One of her motto's is "If you cant break it, bend it." This was beaten into him over their training sessions. Raesh will use other weapons, but he likes his warhammer. 2. Does your character have a particular item: a string, bracelet, or other trinket which they always tie to their weapon/armor? Where did they get this trinket and why is it important to the character?   He wears one of Siobhan's fangs as a necklace because it was the first time he landed a hit on her and she gave it to him to remember the first time his form was perfect to her. 3. Do they have a particular phrase, word, or other type of battle cry they call out when attacking with the weapon? Do they whisper a particular prayer when they are defending with a shield or similar item?   When he enters a rage, he screams "Cowabunga!" It's a tortle war cry. 4. If your character uses unarmed attacks when they attack, is there a particular effect that imminates from their hands, feet, head, or whichever unarmed attack they are using? Do they have their own "names" for their attacks and use those references when talking about their attack in the tavern?   No special auras or anything, just claw swipes. 5. If your character is an artificer, do they use their "magical tinkering" ability carelessly and constantly, regardless of how it affects the previous benefactors of the ability? ex. The character uses last "magical tinkering slot" to create a light source, then a few rooms later, they create a static display causing the light source to go out and shrugs it off as an "oops, I forgot".   N/A Class Features 1. Does your divine character pray at specific times of day unrelated to their need to pray for their spells each morning? Is this a requirement from your religion?   He is non-religious. There is only the fight and surviving it. 2. Is there a special effect that one might describe when your character uses their special class feature? Does your ranger see a particular shade of color when they are recalling the path back home while using their ability to not become lost? Do leaves fall onto the correct path to ensure the character does not become lost.   When Raesh rages, sparks of magic tend to be seen around him, but because of his rage, he does not notice them. 3. When your rogue uses the sneak attack feature, do they whisper a particular word, or phrase, under their breath? Does a special glow, wispy effect, or similar thing appear around the dagger’s blade as it strikes?   N/A 4. When your barbarian rages, do they drink a special potion that they learned to make while among their tribe which turns them into a “Bane” type creature while raging? When your mage casts spells, does it draw on their own life force, health, or other feature and they must drink a nightly concoction to revive their “health”? Maybe they endure a particularly taxing trial as a child when they apprenticed with a mage’s academy and now, they suffer for it (aka Raistlin from Dragonlance).   There is no potion, his anger from being treated as useless by his halfling brothers for not being able to conjure magic is what he uses to focus and go into rage. Adventuring Gear 1. Does your character carry a special item on them that they use during combat religiously? Do they have a “pocket of sand” that they reach into and toss at those they are attacking? Why do they do this, do they think it is funny? Do they have a small flask that they refill before adventuring out of town and take a sip before each “encounter”?   His cloak is very important to him as it allows him to blend into his surroundings instead of everyone just seeing a small turtle, they see what looks like a small creature with a pack covered by a clak. 2. Maybe your character has a particular “book” or similar item that is a favorite poet, or other type of artist? Do they read a selection from it each night around the campfire? Do they react well if the other characters do not reciprocate the love for this author?   He enjoys listening to Siobhan's poetry, and thinks all golden, no matter what others think. 3. Is your character afraid of the dark, shadows, or a similar fear? Do they carry a lantern, or other item(s) to push the particular fear they have away?   He uses the tooth around his neck to help him calm down when the world becomes to much. It helps center him and remember his training. 4. Does your character have a favorite food, drink, or similar item that they continously keep stocked? Do they react in a particular way if they run-out of this item or can't find it easily? Is it a particular type of berry, or other plant that they forage while in the wilderness?   Anchovy Pizza! He cant get enough of it and always tries to get it in each town he goes to. 5. Is your character an item hoarder, often holding on to more than what they can carry without being encumbered? When they reach into their pack to get something, several items fall out. Has your bag(s) become overtaxed to the point that it's ragged and torn and you often loose items (mostly items of non great importance) as you adventure?   He is not a hoarder. Siobahn taught him the virtue of light travel. 6. Does your character ~have~ to have that one particular item each time it is found? A worthless trinket, a broken tooth, a scuffed boot etc. ? If so, what is it and why do they feel the need to have this particular item. What does your character do with this item? Will they pick a fight with their companions if the other person refuses to give it up?   He takes a tooth from every opponent he kills. Since he was awarded a tooth for his first successful brawl, he now feels he needs a tooth from each fight he survives afterward.
