Hierro Ortiz
Duke Hierro Ortiz of Casillero (a.k.a. The Iron Duke)
Known as The Iron Duke, Hierro Ortiz is head of the Milagonian Navy and responsible for the defence of Milagon’s northern shores from possible attack by either Ebrion or Belegond. His duchy covers most of the North West Coast facing Ebrion.
His family sigil is a black bull’s head with a ring of keys in its nose on a red field.
He married into the Casillero family and shares their hatred of Ebrion for killing King Narcis, the last Milagonian King of Ebrion. He is famously stern and unyielding – modelled on Cortes. Broad chested, black goatee, dark hair is tied back in a short, tight ponytail and forms a widow’s peak on his brow. He does not smile.
Using the death of Queen Loriana to influence Prince Dario Guarnierni, Ortiz took full advantage of the Prince’s heartbreak by guiding him towards swift vengeance in the form of immediate military reprisal. Weary of watching the Milagonian navy float aimlessly in its harbour, he has persuaded the grieving Prince to send an Armada to Ebrion.
As the newly appointed Admiral of the Armada and General of the invading forces, Ortiz has led an unstoppable charge through southern Ebrion. Taken completely by surprise and without sufficient time and resources to marshal an opposition force to repel the invasion, much of the south of Ebrion has fallen to the Iron Duke. His forces were last heard to be regrouping at his latest conquest, Kelador, before an assault beyond the Belt Mountains.
