World Tree

This plant species was created in the The Fae Wild, to seal or at least stabilize dimensional gates. The seed was planted on the event horizon, watered, then it grew from the energy to block the whole. 

Basic Information

Anatomy

Just like a normal tree, except that they are sentient.

Genetics and Reproduction

These trees are self-fertile, and in the spring their seeds are released. When fertile soil and water are sensed, the seed falls to the ground and becomes a new tree. These new trees are barely sentient without the energy from the Fae Wild to nourish them.

Growth Rate & Stages

Just like any tree, they start as a seed, sprout into a sapling and grow into a tree. They are slow to mature, and they can live for centuries. On Aquatica, no one has ever seen a world tree die.

Ecology and Habitats

World Trees can live anywhere with fertile soil, enough water, and light. If they have enough energy these can even be done without.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Some world trees that don't live in naturally fertile soil, have animals or tree-kin bring them additives to increase fertility. Sometimes animals even end their life to add to the soil.

Biological Cycle

She doesn't lose leaves in the winter, but her leaves do change color with the season.

Behaviour

She was born and raised to be a Protector of the Gates, she guards the Gateway and protects any people that live near her.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They can talk to all other World Trees, the Treekin, the many of the Fae, even their children at need. They can talk to others through the tree-net with communal telepathy of all that is linked to her. She also has a life sense.
