Jungle Drake

Written by Pookas Kreations

Jungle drakes of Sylvania are degenerate cousins of green dragons, they are tenacious predators, have a cruel cunning, but aren't very smart. Like most drakes, they are bullies, stalking through the deep forests in search of their favorite prey fae and gnomes. They eagerly attack communities of such creatures unless driven off by force.   Like many other drakes, they organize themselves in packs called "rampages," and keep communal lairs in secluded forest locations. These packs are usually closely related (siblings), that have broken off of a larger pack during mating season, to form their own. Their rampages usually number between 3 and 20, but at times are larger.    Jungle drakes mate once a year but abandon the young as soon as they hatch. They can live as long as 200 years, but early predation and competition from others of their kind usually kill them young. These drakes are typically about 12 feet long with equally long tails and weigh about 1,200 lbs.   They arboreal creatures and usually reside in trees, their wings are used mostly for gliding but haven't the strength for full flight. While hunting they prefer to make several hit-and-run attacks, using their stingers to good effect, after their poison takes effect, they swoop in and grab the weakest of their prey and then retreat to enjoy their meal.

  • Predatory Grab (Ex) A jungle drake moves at full speed when it chooses the move option after maintaining a grapple, though it can’t carry the grappled creature aloft. A jungle drake can spend a use of its speed surge to move a grappled creature in this way without requiring a check to maintain the grapple.
  • Speed Surge (Ex) Three times per day as a swift action, a jungle drake can draw on its draconic heritage for a boost of strength and speed that allows it to take an additional move action that round.
  • Woodland Stride (Ex) A jungle drake can move through any sort of foliage at full speed without taking damage or suffering impairment. Areas of foliage that have been magically manipulated affect it normally.
Greensight (Sp) Jungle drakes have the ability to see up to 60 feet through thick plant matter as though it were transparent. Greenery, leaves, and vines—even lichen, moss, and slime—offer no concealment to the recipient’s sight, though her vision still can be blocked by solid wood, such as trees or wooden structures. Undergrowth does not grant concealment to a creature against a target of the effects of greensight.
