Imaginary Friend

Imaginary friends are a common phenomenon. It is a healthy way for children to cope with a trauma that they experienced. What most people don't know or won't let themselves know is that they are real. 
Some children are actually seeing ghosts, ethereal creatures, or something similar. These beings are attracted to the children because they have active imaginations so can see into other realms that adults no longer believe in. Beings in these realms are considered to be too fantastical to believe in. Most children believe in fairies, unicorns, Santa, the tooth fairy, easter bunny, intelligent animals, etc.
Some people believe that these friends are actually their imagination on overdrive, or the past lives talking to their current incarnation. Certain societies believe that the children are touched by the gods to receive holy messages, or to perform important deeds.
This condition often disappears as the children age, or the children pretend that it does. Some often keep their friends long into adulthood, it all depends on their personality and strength of character. They provide comfort, an outlet for negative emotions, a balm for boredom and loneliness, serve as a conscious, provide motivation, and increase their self-esteem.
According to some of the children, their friends are real people and can hold conversations with them. Girls more commonly have these friends, some think because they are more open to contact with other beings. Once children reach school age boys often gain a friend as well.
Some scientists believe that having an imaginary friend is a sign of early leadership skills, early linguist skills, and even a genius in the making. These children are considered to be sensitive, some call them enlightened souls, who still remember their previous lives, have purity of energy, and are open to the other side with energies such as love, joy, peace, and bliss.
