Most cetaceans on Aquatica have a high level of intelligence, Delfins are no exception. They have exceptional problem-solving abilities, learn languages easily, enjoy herding lower sea life and singing.

Delfin often serve as messengers between the nations of seafolk. Often serving as traveling bards to carry stories/knowledge far and wide. A few pods of Delfin have been known to develop abilities no one has seen before. Psionics, blinking, shape-changing, emerging hands, etc. These have been known to feed in or near still contaminated areas of the ocean.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

A Delfin appears as a common dolphin, with the same basic size and shape. A few distinct differences is they like decorating themselves with colorful tattoos, and are much smarter.

Any water, fresh, brackish or salt.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Delfins are carnivores, they will eat any type of fish. Some have specific types of fish, squid or other animals that they prefer to eat. They have even been known to play with their food such as sea urchins to get intoxicated with the poison.

Social Structure

Delfin often live in pods of 2-60 individuals. The ruling Matriarch of each pod has the ability to telepathically talk to each member of their pod and other Matriarchs at need. Depending on her strength she can even “overshadow” their will with her own, to control them.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sonar (treat as blindsight 120 ft), lowlight vision, can hear exceptionally well in both water and air.

Sexual dimorphism is common with Delfin, but the female is usually larger than the male, especially the Matriarch.

Killing another Delfin or any cetacean.

History

It is not known but is surmised that Delfin came from the Plane of Water as the Octrari did or from somewhere else entirely. Some think they traveled with the Astralus or Atlanteans to Aquatica. Either way, they are more evolved (uplifted) above their relatives here. If they mate with their cousins, their genetic traits always dominate. Sometimes this also causes other mutations to pop up from time to time.

The Sky Delfin, a legend of a Delfin that made it to the Skylands and is forever skysurfing, swimming through the sky.

They are friendly with most aquatic races throughout Aquatica.
