The CEO is the person that runs a company but is not necessarily the owner. He/She is responsible for strategic, financial, and operational leadership for the company. He works closely with the Board of Directors and senior leadership.

Depending on the company, they could be elected, appointed, or rotated.

Responsibilities

1. Leadership: plan, develop, implement and direct the operational and fiscal function of the company.
2. Strategy: Develop and implement the company's plans and programs.
3. Analyze the effects of long-term growth plans, planning, strategies, and regulatory actions.
4. Perform analysis of financial trends and budgets.
5. Implement, improve, and enforce policies and procedures to increase the effectiveness and profits of the company.
6. Communicate effectively within and without the company, to help with business challenges.
7. Provide financial guidance and advice.
8. Improve planning and budgeting.
9. Using strategic input and leadership to affect the company. Especially, with mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
10. Optimize any financial relationships having to do with the company. Working with the CFO effectively.
11. Work with the finance team on the company's cash flow projection and reporting mechanism to meet operating needs.
12. Be a strategic advisor, and consultant on contracts, negotiations, and deals for the company.
13. Evaluate the company's financial, operational, sales, and marketing structures to increase operating efficiency.
14. Mentor and interact with staff members to foster growth and encourage development with all employees.
