Grox the Pawntaker
Grox the Pawntaker was a famous Bugbear Dragonchess master, native to The City of Spires. He was said to be so good at his craft, that he remained undefeated for 20 years, until he was beaten to death by a jealous rival. Grox is rumoured to have suffered from an unfortunate gambling addiction, often betting on his games, and some say that he utilised subtle illusion magic to ensure his victories. However, this rumour is thought to have stemmed from a begrudged ex-partner, so the validity of these claims is suspect at best.
In addition to Dragonchess, Grox was said to have an unhealthy relationship with his touring manager slash drug dealer, who attempted to extort Grox for nearly ninety percent of his income. However, Grox, still being a Bugbear despite his more civilised demeanour, responded by simply pulling his manager's arms off.
