Aruvagn Ist'Olathe (AR-oo-vahn EAST-oh-LOTH)

Aruvagn is the second husband of Fiaéain IV, the Queen of Olathe. When Fiaéain wed Aruvagn in 675, she did so with the blessing of her first husband and Prince-Consort, Aeríle Er'Aldomis. Plural marriage is common among the Olathian aristocracy: like many others of high station, Fiaéain's first marriage was arranged (though quite amicable), and it carried more political and ceremonial weight than any further marriages. Though neither Fiaéain nor Aruvagn have ever spoken extensively to the public about their marriage, court gossip alleges that it took years of her persistent courting before he permitted himself to express affection to one with status so much greater than his own.   Before their marriage, Aruvagn was a general in the Sovereign Army of Olathe, a title to which he had worked his way up from the lowest ranks of the Army over the course of his career. Though he had earned a position of great renown, he was no aristocrat. Aruvagn was born into a Lathléar wood-elven working-class household; he was the first shadow elf and bearer of a Lunar Gift in his family. Within the Sovereign Army, Aruvagn was well-known as an intelligent commander with a sense for long-term strategy, far and beyond even the typical elven mastery of the long game.   Fiaéain granted Aruvagn the title of Archduke after their marriage, a military and political title that granted him ultimate authority over the actions of the Sovereign Army. While Aruvagn lives at the royal court with Fiaéain and Aeríle, he is not a major figure in court life, but he has been known to quietly advise Fiaéain on issues of national security.
