Battlehaunt
The Battlehaunt, once called Arthedia ("The Jewel of Arthedis" in High Elven) is a large swath of land that rests between Tionmenel, Aracia and Mephistia. It was once a lush, verdant territory, remote enough that all three civilizations could call it their own without clashing. They built thriving outposts for trade with each other and the shining city-state of Vaesavys on the coast.
However, when the Infernal Wars broke out, it became the primary the battleground. The devil hordes of Mephistia clashed with armies from most of the other Merchant Sea nations, burning through forests and grasslands, turning once great towns and villages to ash. While the war would spread to other areas around the Merchant Sea, Arthedia became its heart, soaked in blood. Vaesavys was the site of the final battle with the Devil King Baeliel, where a legion of devils were sealed away for eternity.
Sealed off by a mighty river, all roads that once led to The Jewel have been closed. Bridges were destroyed. Spells were cast to make flight through the area difficult. It is a barren wasteland, lost to the world and known as The Battlehaunt, where the ghosts of great soldiers met their end.
The Battlehaunt does still have its denizens: Orc and Goblin tribes, bands of roving Devils, tainted survivors of the once great colonial towns. Still, it is mostly a lonely place, somewhere that even the monsters of the Warfields would not want to find themselves.
