Aodean Gods

After the The Divine Expulsion, Divine Beings and the Old Gods were cast out of the material plane, leaving nothing for devout mortals to place their faith in. This led to the creation of Aodean Gods, through the power of belief. Aodean Gods, unlike their extraplanar counterparts, come from the material plane itself. They originally lived a mortal life, until they gained enough influence and power to be classified as gods. They vary greatly in power, but are often equal in overall status. The more followers a god has, the more of his power he must distribute amongst their priests. This keeps the balance of power relatively stable among these gods. Also unlike gods of the Divine or Void, Aodean Gods are not immortal. Although they have grandiose powers and longevity compared to their fellow man, they all will die. The longest lived Aodean God, Dayse of Hope, lived around 3400 years. Despite his multitude of followers, he still died of a deteriorating body, not being able to even move for his last few years of life.
Many Aodean Gods join the Council of Steel, or simple "The Council", which is a long-standing group of Aodean Gods that live together, have discussions, and cooperate to have a greater effect on the world. At least, in theory.
