The Seared Desert

The Seared Desert is located in the center of Hansola. While legally within the Duchy of Hansola, the seared desert is mostly autonomous. It is full of desert tribes and outlaws, the one sizable settlement, Rivgar's Oasis, has no baron and pays no taxes to either the duke or the king.

Geography

The Seared Dessert is a massive expanse of sand dunes with the occasional small mountain. One could easily get lost in this endless landscape, many have. The only safe haven is the Rivgar's Oasis, named for the Draconis who once ruled over it.

Fauna & Flora

Many desert animals call this inhospitable place home. Camels, scorpions, lizards, and snakes are all common among the sand dunes. In the more hospitable places of the desert you can find the occasional tree patch or shrubbery. These rare areas of greenery often house dessert rodents, birds, and a few coyotes. The desert is also home to the common sand dragon. It was once full of a variety of dragons but since the introduction of mankind to the desert the most have been hunted to extinction. Proof of their existence can be found in the desert mountains they once called home.

History

Long ago before humans had come to the desert it was the home of multiple dragons. These dragons preyed upon the giant scorpions, camels, desert sheep, etc. The fiery breath of these desert monsters often left large glass pieces scattered throughout the dessert and eventually buried under the shifting sands. Though the dragons were all eventually slain many can still find dragonglass, especially after a sandstorm. This glass is incredibly strong and thus can be sold for a high price to the correct buyer.
