Kiteville
Kiteville was named in honor of the Hellkite family for their distinguished service in the campaign for Halftall island which they now rule from this very city. Marshal law has been removed and the town has started to get its economic gears turning again. Now the town is crucial for the food economy of the empire and the source of a large amount of the beer in the empire, halfling breweries go day and night both in the market areas and in the traditional halfling district Oldshire.
Demographics
The city is just over half halfling and gnome about 1/3 human with various races making up the rest.
Government
Governor Hellkite rules the island from his castle on the city's edge. The governing of the city though is delegated to lieutenant governor Vahzki Hellkite, Governor Zendor Hellkite's younger brother. Vahzki is well liked, the carrot to his brother's stick.
Industry & Trade
The lands around the city are bountiful. Food is shipped by wagon from all over the island to Kiteville to be sold throughout the empire. The town is also supported by the mining villages in the inner mountain and a prosperous fishing industry.
Districts
There are four main areas of the town.
The Docks. Where trade is done and ships come and go. A small fleet of 3-5 Sumarrian ships remains in and around the harbor at all times. Many of the dockworkers are halflings who whistle while they work while others grumble about better times.
Oldshire. What remains of the halfling village formerly known as Beachshire. Many halflings who were originally from the village choose to live in this neighborhood of traditional halfling homes. It is the only part of the city where buildings are not required to be human sized.
Middlebrook. Named for the small river that goes through the middle of the town, this district contains most of Kiteville. The taverns, stores, markets, and homes of most of the city's population.
The Fortress. Castle Hellkite is a modified Sumarrian fortress and contains a small village worth of space buildings and workers inside it's walls. If the city were ever attacked the Hellkites could shut the gates and feed everyone in the castle for years off the gardens and orchard. This area also features the hellkite's personal guards, several houses of important people, and the castle craftsmen.
