Milton Butters (a.k.a. the Monster Slayer)
Milton was born the son of a baker, but for most of his life he desired to make the Butters name mean something greater than the smell of freshly baked pastries.
Growing up in Baali, Milton was always fascinated by tales of heroes and epic battles. While his parents were simple folks who encouraged him not to play with fire, Milton sought to become a great warrior. Even though he grew up to be quite small and weak, he didn’t let that stop him. Born with strange, inherent psychic abilities, he trained to use them to fight with speed instead of power. He studied all the great tales and songs of the heroes of Baal who would go into battle and gloriously crush their enemies. But Milton himself was scoffed at for his love of heroic tales.
As a young man he joined the Army of Baal to prove himself as worthy as his heroes, even the fictional ones. He fought hard to earn his first command – a squadron of troops. Unfortunately, it went directly to his head, and in a foolish gambit lead them to be killed while he barely escaped with his life.
Milton was dishonorably discharged for gross incompetence (and none too subtly advised that it would be good for his health to leave Baali). While he was at his lowest and stewing in his defeat, he found himself slumped in an alley, where an oddly friendly rat approached him and seemed determined to not leave the distraught ex-soldier's side. Milton adopted the creature as his pet and named him Chester. After being kicked out of the military , Milton took to wandering the land to find bloody battles to fight and win glory.
Milton's travels eventually took him to the isolated settlement of Cauldron. It was there that he met the adventuring group who would come to be known as Not by Choice.

Milton was investigating the ulat-kini temple of Bhal-Hamatugn when he was overwhelmed by spawn of the black dragon, Dorlot the Fecund. In his final moments, Milton cast himself and the tiny monsters into the Astral Plane.
