Loscivia Cantri

Loscivia Cantri (a.k.a. Los)

Los knew from a young age that she was different from the other drow. Though she grew up with privilege as a blood noble of House Cantri, she found herself repelled by the vile philosophies of her fellow drow, especially their penchant for enslaving other "lesser" races. As Los grew, she found herself inflicted with strange seizures that caused her to collapse and speak in tongues. These seizures were frequently associated with visions, and a voice, like cool water, that she soon identified belonged to the goddess Vespera. The goddess filled Los with guilt over the cruel actions of her compatriots, eventually spurring her to action. Finding a co-conspirator in her half-brother Xiphion, who also had been born without the cruelty of most drow, the two lead a slave revolt before fleeing their furious family, attempting to escape to the surface world. Los lost track of Xiphion, finding herself in the free city of Kedesh, where she purchased a horse she named "Beaver," (based on a tenuous knowledge of surface flora), and attempted to make her way in the strange city. However, even in Kedesh, a drow noble stood out, and one day Los was abducted by drow she recognized as being members of House Deshokar. However, instead of returning her to the Everlasting Night, they took her to a warehouse on the waterfront, where she was thrown into a cell, guarded by what appeared to be humans. She was rescued by a strange troupe made up of a deep gnome, a lizard man, and a skinny human oracle. Attempting to escape the warehouse, they discovered it was the so-called Sodden Hold, and hideout for a gang of doppelgangers. The group uncovered a plot by the doppelgangers to infiltrate Kedeshite society for personal blackmail and personal gain, though not without sacrifice, as the lizard man, Drask, was slain, as well as the deep gnome alchemist's tumor familiar. In the end, the party only escaped the Sodden Hold by striking a devil's bargain with the leader of the gang, a greater doppelganger named Telakin, agreeing to free him from the servitude of a being called Zyrxog in exchange for their lives. After recovering with the help of the Seekers, the party ventured deep into the sewers to locate Zyrxog's lair. Their Los discovered that the members of House Deshokar who had kidnapped her were actually thralls to Zyrxog, who had the ability to control minds. While attempting to fight their way through the enthralled Deshokar soldiers and their mistress, Corvina Deshokar, Lulu the human oracle was captured by a water naga, a bored denizen of Zyrxog's underground Cathedral of the Mind who wished to be entertained by the human's stories. Tragically, due to her curse, Los could not tell that Lulu was not in immediate danger, and bravely confronted and attacked the naga in order to save her companion. The naga inflicted a fatal wound to the drow oracle with its bite, but with her last dying act, Los was able to kill the creature. She died with the assurance that she had done her best to live a noble life, and that Vespera would welcome her spirit into the afterlife.
