Elf

Aleria: Elves have played a prominent role as both heroes and villains in the history of Aleria. It was the elven emperor Mykalus who rose to power after the cataclysm to lead the people of the Empire to victory against the chromatic dragons during the Dragon Wars. However it was also Mykalus who violated the rules of succession by remaining in power past the 100 year rotation period, and then passing the throne to his heir in what would become the beginning of the 4,000 year long Mykalian Dynasty. Many believe the Red Wilting that eventually wiped out the elven royal family was punishment from the Stars for this arrogance.
After the fall of the Ancient Empire, it was Izkrael the Deathless's decision to unite the elven confederacy of Hule and take back the lands of Aleria and Thyatis which lead to the Last War of the Ancients. Though the opening of the Demonscar eventually forced the elves to unite with other races for their very survival, many still see the elves as untrustworthy at best and dangerous and power-hungry at worst.
Today the elves of Aleria rarely leave their forest enclave of Nikyonis, though it is said that far to the south the elves of the island nation of Maljeray continue to do brisk trade with Nosirios and Arqadin, having escaped most of the bad reputation of their northern cousins.
