Aleria Campaign / Doomsday Dawn / When the Stars Go Dark pt. 1/ Bris the 29th, 3592 CE 2/17/19

General Summary

Gray Vengeance have assembled at the headquarters of the Esoteric Order of the Eon Eye in Razorport. They stand in the presence of the Order's leader, Kelly Varis, ready to put their research to the test. The countdown clock the Order recovered indicates that the doomsday event predicted by Lochmar and the Harbingers is only seven days away. Gray Vengeance has spent the last 4 years carefully studying the formula they recovered from Lochmar's prison in Mournveil, the White Axiom. Now they are prepared to test their theory that using the White Axiom on Lochmar's text, The Last Theorem, will unlock the secrets to averting the oncoming cataclysm. The four members of Gray Vengeance gather around The Last Theorem and conduct the ritual of reciting the White Axiom. Instantly they find themselves transported to another reality, a featureless plain under a dark sky, with a single star glaring down at them like an angry eye. The wasteland is guarded by four rune giants, who immediately attack the intruders. Though they fight valiantly, one by one each member of Gray Vengeance is struck down by the giants, disappearing from this strange demiplane back to their own reality as they fall, until only the elven priestess of the Moon, Rindas Velorum, remains. Risking a dangerous gambit, she casts a flying spell on herself and draws the air-walking rune giants higher and higher into the sky above the featureless plain, before dispelling the magic that keeps them afloat, causing them to hurtle to their doom below. As the giants strike the ground, the runes covering their bodies are dispelled and absorbed into the landscape. When the last rune giant is slain, the reality of the demiplane crumbles, and Rindas finds herself once again standing before the table holding The Last Theorem. The book appears to glow slightly. All around her, the other members of Gray Vengeance lay fallen from their wounds. Kelly Varis and her acolytes of the Order begin administering aid to her fallen companions. Rindas breathes a sigh of relief. The ritual was a success. The true potential of the The Last Theorem to stop the countdown has been unlocked.
