The Separation of Jiinal

Manifestation

For most of An'katerr's long history, the five countries were all part of one large body of land. The Jiinalese weren't as accepting of the Sky Lords as the people of the other four countries. They did not mind Kal Valorn overly much as he kept to himself for the most part, but they resented having to keep the peace with their neighbors. Two hundred years after the Sky Lords had come to An'katerr, the Jiinalese were still more warlike than any of the others, even more so than the Dovalians. Regardless of what their Emperor said, no matter how much the Chief Priest and the other members of the Priesthood begged and pleaded with the people, and no matter what the Shark Warriors tried, bands of warriors would raid their neighbouring countries.   The Jiinalese Emperor was pleaded with to put an end to these raids, but there was little he could do. The other Sky Lords cornered Kal Valorn in his favourite cavern and loudly demanded that he rein his people in or they would take action.   Kal Valorn, who was fed up with the behaviour of his people, did not need much encouragement from his brothers to act. He approached the Emperor and demanded that he put an end to the raids. When the Emperor told him that he had tried many times, that the people would not listen to him, Kal Valorn left the palace and went to where the border was between Jiinal and Zalityu. He stood there on that invisible line, looking into his protectorate. Anger filled him and he stomped his foot down as hard as he could, cracking the earth. He stomped and stomped, bringing water up into the crack to make it wider and wider. The cracks extended along the entire border, breaking it away from Shanshiire, Zalityu, and Doval. The cold and salty ocean water poured into the crack and pushed Jiinal further away. As it moved away, the country broke up into islands. A few of his people were killed in the process. He could not help the matter but he thought it would drive home the point.   Finally, the islands stopped moving and things settled. Kal Valorn again went to the Emperor to tell him what he had done and why. He had no problem with the occasional skirmish as it kept the others on their toes, but he warned the Jiinalese people that if there were further acts of violence against the other four countries then he would be forced to take further action. They wouldn’t like what he would do next.   And that is how the country of Jiinal became a cluster of islands in the two hundred and sixth year after the Beginning of Days.
