Keyword: Wytchsight

Gameplay rules need to be fleshed out further.

Transmission & Vectors

A Host must ingest the tubers of wytchroot plants, or alternatively inhale smoke from cured wytchroot tubers.   Alternatively, a Host with a Dominant Fade may trigger this condition at will.

Causes

Wytchroots exist partially in our world and partially in the Spirit World, anchored through their tuberous roots. Ingestion or inhalation allows a Host's dominant Spirit to create a temporary link or "bridge" into the Spirit world.   A Dominant Fade is naturally able to achieve the same effect as wytchroot.

Symptoms

The Host starts being able to see into and directly interact with the Spirit World utilizing their dominant Spirit as a proxy, while becoming unaware of the physical world around them. Their real world actions become sluggish, and they do not react to physical contact or injury. After the connection with the Spirit World is lost, the Host snaps back to the real world.   Wytchwood is supernaturally psychoactive. It impairs reflexes, and causes strong audio and visual hallucinations, an increased appetite, drowsiness, and a sense of euphoria.   A Dominant Fade can trigger identical effects in their host.   Normal humans are unable to see or interact with the spirit world, however they experience the same psychoactive effects. Some people seek this out for recreation, such people are commonly known as Wytches.

Prognosis

In Hosts, Wytchsight takes hold within seconds and typically lasts for only a minute. In all users, the psychoactive effects take hold within a similar time frame and can last anywhere between 30 minutes to over 2 hours. Risk of addiction to the psychoactive effects is high, especially in frequent users. A dominant Fade carries the same risk of addiction.

Sequela

The psychoactive effects of wytchroot consumption are very addictive. Long term users often become distracted by a need to consume wytchroot if they have gone more than half a day without it, and withdrawal symptoms becoming increasingly severe the longer they have gone without it, including the involuntary shaking of hands, gradually worsening paranoia, apathy, psychosis or schizophrenia.
