Star-Iron Material in Angotra | World Anvil

Star-Iron

Starsteel, sky iron, star iron, and skysteel are all names given to the metal from which the Elves and Dwarves in ancient days combined their greatest skill and talent to forge the mightiest weapons of legend against Aranxes. Sunsteel was what the most poetic of the Elven songs called it, for when forged in the hearts of the oldest mountains and enchanted by the greatest of Elven songs, these metals shone like sunlight even in the darkest nights of the Blight-War.   Unbreakable, forever sharp, and able to cleave through the strongest of armors and foulest of Blight-spells, all champions dream of possessing such a weapon. | Tholar, Last Wizard at the time of the War of the Eight and the Three

History & Usage

History

Believed by some to be the remains of the Weaver's War when she fought against Aranxes, this metal has always been known to be amongst the most powerful and effective metal to forge weapons and armor with. Only the finest of Elf-smiths and Dwarf-smiths could utilize the metal to its full potential, developing spells and enchantments to bind into the forging that made each item nearly indestructible and capable of lasting forever.

Reusability & Recycling

Star-iron is too rare a metal to be disposed of carelessly. Instead, objects made of this metal are passed down through generations to the ones who can most responsibly carry it. If no such figure exists, the objects are oiled and wrapped to preserve the finish, and then carefully stored for when it will be needed in the future.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Sky-iron is incredibly rare, being found only where stars have fallen from the heavens and plummeted to earth. Since these occurrences have grown rare since the Weaver wove her tapestry of protection around the world, these are usually only found buried deep beneath the earth where they fell in ancient days.

Storage

In its raw state, the metal can be left alone for thousands of year while trapped inside a rock with little to no negative impact. After all, at this point, it is a rock. Once smelted and forged, however, the artifacts are engraved with runes of preservation and songs of unchanging, so that other than oil to keep the shine on the metal and keep the leather wrappings preserved, it needs no special treatment and is believed to be able to last for an eternity.
