Mary Stewart

A devote woman of the Church of Gospel, Mary spends her time challenging the nature of the School of Nightshade. She takes her teachings as the will of God. She tells those who will listen that God is always watching and protecting those who need him.

Mary has always been a bit quiet and shy after being raised in a conservative family, being taught that God's word is everything. Despite that, Mary has developed a love for the violin, practicing it multiple times a day to relax her nerves. She believes that the School of Nightshade in town is cursed and evil, full of devil-worshipers.
She has raised her son, Brian Stewart with love and devotion. With her son only a few weeks old, Mary had him baptized, mentioning how she sees magick as a threat and doesn't want it to taint her bloodline. Brian was raised to worship God under her roof.
As he has grown, Brian changed, learning of magick and the stories that it tells. Mary became ashamed that her son wanted to study magick and tried to persuade him to give it up over the years. Her fears have only grown as Brian chose to attened the School of Nightshade to pursue his dream. She vows to rescue her son from the evil clutches of the school.

Heritage

Mary is a descendant of the Salem Witches, her bloodline containing mystical magick that the Church viewed as evil. The Knight Family denounced their magickal side and became devote members of the Church of Gospel. Mary made sure to follow the desired path of her ancestors, going as far as keep anything that mention magick or superheroes with powers, such as Marvel or DC, from the knowledge of her son.

Appearance

Mary has a small build with some chub to accent her love of food. Her body contains a stiff posture from learning how to be lady-like, cultivated with all the hours spent playing the violin. Her face is round with calm and happy features.

Armaments

She wears the typical 1980s church mom attire that she keeps dry-cleaned as often as she can. It consists of soft blouses and long skirts underneath tailored coats fit for violin practice. On left hand is her diamond wedding band, still worn even after her late husband, Matthew Stewart, passed years ago.
If anything can be considered a weapon, it would be her bible. She is rarely seen without it, often quoting it when the time calls for it. If she is not holding her bible, she has her violin with her, whether in its case or out to play.

Personality

Mary is seen as a kind and generous woman, but this can be seen as a facade as her tongue is sharp and not afraid to lash out at anyone brazen enough to threaten her family or her beliefs. She is very swift to preach the bible and God's love. However, Mary is repulsed by violence and will do what she can with her voice, or rather, her influence upon the community of Serenia.

Justice

Mary believes that God will enact justice upon the evil. She sees her duty to uphold God and the testament without fail. She volunteers at the Church to help at the Youth Center, teaching children about God and what his goal for humanity is.
She sees civilization as needing more of God's love and omnipotent views on the world. There is said to be corruption in the world and Mary wishes to see it stopped.

Mannerisms

Mary's sharp-tongue is never far from the ear as she believes that words are sharper than any weapon. The bible is considered a life source for Mary, always by her side or in her pocket. When she plays the violin, her stress goes down. Now, if she cannot play it, she imagines herself playing her beloved instrument while humming one of the many religious hymns she knows.

Unlike the stories where those who don't practice magick lose their magick over time, the magick inside witches and warlocks who don't practice stays dormant. It only releases when the witch or warlock needs it most, especially when they least expect it.
