Mahark - Lady of Stone, Mother of Dwarvenfolk

When Arah - Lady of the darkest night chased her son Kerrul from her abode, she decided to clean out the Eternal Cauldron, to make sure that the fiery creatures he had been creating would leave none of their destructive traces.

Dragging the immense cauldron out of her cave, she tipped its content, which poured for what seemed an infinitely long time. What resulted was a massive heap of lava that started rolling over the entire continent and threatened to engulf both the surface and her cave in boiling lava.
To prevent the ensuing destruction, Arah struck the boiling mass with the club she had made from the same material, and gave it the shape of a large mountain, which she named Torkan, the Mountain, a hulking mass of lava.
Over time, the raw power that was still contained in the large mountain, the traces of Kerrul's activity and her own insight of the future gave Arah pause and she saw that new life would sprout from this fiery mountain. She struck the ground again and the mountain itself did indeed spring to life, gaining consciousness.
"Thank you, Arah, mother of night. Please bring your club down once more, for I feel a mighty rage that could well crack and break my body from the inside out. Please extinguish this fire."

Arah saw the suffering of this new creature she had wrought from the Eternal Cauldron and she was moved to compassion. With care and patience, she gave a shape of stone and rock to the hearth of the great mountain of Torkan, and fashioned a sister creature to the Mountain. Asking for the help of Bussura - Lord of the Tides , she immerged this new creature in the deepest waters, finally managing to cool the heat. She struck this new creature with her club, and gave it life, and named it Mahark.

Mahark spent her earliest eons under the tutelage of Bussura, but finally her longing for Torkan, her brother and the other half of her spirit, became too much. Torkan himself reached out to the shores, and the two were finally reunited.
Mahark took residence in the depths of the mountain from whence she came, and in time, she gave shape to the fathers of Dwarves, asking Kielat - Lifegiver, Master of crafts. to extend his gift to them. For the longest time, Dwarves lived underground, learning their crafts and learning to shape their environment according to their needs.
In time, the Dwarves reached the surface and spread around the continent, but they never forgot the allegiance they owed to The great Mountain and to the Heart of the Mountain, their mother, Mahark.
It is said that over the course of the following centuries, when the great wars changed the shape of the continent, Torkan's physical body sank in the depths of the seas, but that he and Mahark learned to inhabit all of the tallest peaks and mountains, both on land and under water.
