High Elves

Ethnically distinct from the Wood Elves, the High Elves are, on average, a bit taller and more in tune with the arcane energies that course through Andúnë.
They seem to incarnate the physical characteristics of the Elves from legends and myths, their looks often being rather distinctive and ethereal. They may appear detached, but in fact they simply are better than most at not revealing their inner turmoils when taken to task.
It is said that the Secret cities built by the Elves in The Marches of Laethralla have by and large been built and are to this day led by High Elves. In at least one of these cities, some of the most ancient and powerful Elven Mages hold court and share their knowledge with those they deem worthy.
A certain degree of passion for intrigue and subterfuge is another trait that is often shared by High Elves, who thrive and do well in the world of politics and often strive to leave their mark. Resolving a conflict by saying the right thing at the right time is a skill as valued by the Elves in general and by High Elves in particular, as is a talent for Magic, War or Lore.

When they travel or settle outside the confines of the Marches, the High Elves don't particularly seek out their kin, and are very comfortable consorting and befriending people of all races and walks of life, often relishing the diversity that is laid out before them. It is not uncommon for single Elves far removed from their ancestral abodes, to seek out companionship and even marriage with members of other races. Elves born outside of the Marches often are better integrated in the countries they are born in than they would be, if they were to move "back to the homeland".
