Leon

Leon is a young knight and the personal guard to Princess Anna Winchester. He became a knight at only 16 after the battle of Humming wood, then he later was knighted by Sir Gerald. After growing up along side the children of House Maxwell as their adopted brother and then being sent to the capital to receive a better education and be able to choose his own future unlike so many.

Relationships

Family

Leon is the adopted child of House Maxwell. Leon has a younger sister Elaine Maxwell who writes to him regularly. He has a brother William Maxwell who is the same age as him and unlike Leon he is a very skilled archer. Leons adoptive father Lord Nicolas Maxell cares for him greatly, he knows that because Leon isn't his biological son he can give him more freedom to choose his future. His adoptive mother Carmen Maxwell has cared for Leon since he was a baby so to her he as just as much her child as his brother and sister.

Leon try's to be as close to his siblings as possible even though he hasn't seen them since he moved to the capital when he was 9. Him and his sister send letters as much as possible they normally mention what has been happening to them recently like training for Leon and sowing practice for ___ also most of Leons letters have at least a few mentions of the Princess Anna Winchester who he is very close to.

Princess Anna Winchester

Leon first meet Anna when he first arrived at the capital, when Leon was first introduced to King Magnus. Anna was the one to show Leon around the castle and the grounds she acted like an unofficial guide to him when he first arrived. They had their studies together so they became good friends fast. After Leon was made a knight he was made Princess Annas personal guard. Leon always thought this position was pointless because who was going to hurt the princess when she is in the castle and even when she's not she has a whole guard when she's visiting other nations but its not like he was going to turn down more time to be with her.

Sir Gerald

Sir Gerald was who Leon squired for until he was 16. They first met when Leon was training in the courtyard and was showing off because was beating all the kids around the same age as him, Sir Gerald was watching him and only acted when Leon claimed he could probably beat anyone. Sir Gerald not being a fan of arrogance beat him in around 3 seconds. From then on he took Leon as his Squire. They went on many missions together until the Battle of Humming wood when Leon proved himself to Sir Gerald.

Personality

Leon is just 16 and carries his knighthood with pride. He is fiercely loyal to his friends and places his trust easily, not yet understanding that enemies can wear the same smiles as friends, and in the capital, kindness can be just another weapon.

He was not born of noble blood, taken in by a noble family but never claiming their name . Many lords and ladies look down on him, resenting his rapid rise and the close bond he shares with the princess. Some whisper behind closed doors, others sneer openly but he endures in silence, determined to prove that greatness is earned, not inherited.

Although beneath his smile there is wound that wont heal, he doesn't know his real parents or where he came from and while he pretends it doesn’t matter, the truth haunts him more than he’ll admit. That void of knowledge claws at him making him want to prove himself even more.

History

Origin --
Lord Maxwell was on his way home from hunting when his party was caught in a snowstorm they decided it was best to make a break for the castle but on there way lord Maxwell noticed a body of a man that was getting covered over by the snow. Fearing that it could be one of his men he stopped the party to investigate. The body was of a man wearing a cloak and no sign of who his real identity was but clutched in his hands wrapped up was a baby. Star struck that the baby was still alive Lord Maxwell quickly took the baby and left the body of the man. Fearing for the baby's health the party went double time trying to get out of the snow storm. Luckily and because of the men's knowledge of the land the party made it back to the castle with one extra addition.

After checking the baby was healthy, Lord Maxwell didn't no what to do with the new addition. He considered giving the baby to a trusted servant but there was a thought haunting him, how did the baby survive. Believing that the baby's survival must have been a gift/miracle from the Gods he decided to keep the baby. His wife Lady Carmen had her doubts because of the child's unknown origins but after some convincing from Lord Maxwell and also believing the baby's survival had to have been due to some divine intervention.

After that they named the baby Leon and agreed to rise him no different to there true born children. They also agreed to not pretend that he was a true born, although that would have been the smarter choice and would avoid much explaining and lies in the future, they believed that if they did try and cover it up the gods may not like that very much. Although they never told anyone else about how Leon was found. The men with Lord Maxwell all agreed to stay silent and honour their lords wishes. Their cover story was not much different to the actual events, they told everyone who enquired that Leon was left outside Lord Maxwell's room and then they took the baby in. This was the story they told Leon as well fearing that if the story got out it would cause problems for Leon in the future especially from the Faith.
