Dragon, Regal
True Dragon species, with wings that can touch both shores of a wide river, and a crown of horns fitting for such an apex predator. Their fire breath is that of legends, with entire towns known to have vanished under vast fiery waves. Yet despite this many adventurers have set out in hopes of claiming a Regal Dragon's glittering hoard, the promise of a lifetime of comfort too hard to pass up. However few stop to ask why Regal Dragons protect such vast treasures, if they did perhaps they would think twice about pillaging such a dangerous creature's nest.
This is the species that first comes to everyone's mind when the word "Dragon" is uttered. Mighty and proud, the Regal Dragon is by far the largest of the Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
The Regal Dragon's hoards of treasure actually play a very important role in their courtship. Males and females will evaluate the other's hoard as part of seeing how fit the other is, for a wounded or sick individual is quick to lose their hoards to pesky humanoids, if they even have much of one to begin with. If the courtship is successful the pair will become life time partners and they will combine their treasure into one lair. After this they will breed once every five years, and each clutch can contain 1-3 eggs that will be fiercely protected by the parents. The eggs look like they are made of smooth marble wrapped in streaks of gold, and are a bit bigger than a man's head. The clutch can typically be found in the center of the parent's treasure hoard, partially buried among the golden coins and gems. It will take a year for the eggs to incubate, during which the male and female will take turns with guarding the den and hunting, the parent that stays with the eggs will occasionally bathe them in flame to keep them warm.
