Causes

This disease is caused by contact with sick Dragonettes. If one interacts with a sick Dragonette and doesn't wash their hands and face before eating, drinking or touching their face they are likely to develop Dragon's Lung

Symptoms

There are different stages to this disease.
First Stage

• Slightly elevated temperature
• Watery nose
• Sore throat
• Resembles a common cold

Second Stage

• Lungs feel like they are on fire
• Hard to breathe
• Excessive drooling

Third Stage

• Explosive bloody coughing that is compare to a dragon breathing fire.
• At this point the lungs are literally starting to fall apart.

Fourth Stage

• Death due to lung destruction

Treatment

Healers have recently discovered what seems like a fairly successful treatment for the disease. Sick individuals must be kept cool, given special incense to medicate the lungs, and fed medicated porridge.

Prognosis

Individuals do better the quicker the disease is caught and treated. If an individual reaches third stage it is almost always fatal due to the extreme damage to the lungs. Those that do survive are extremely crippled and constantly struggle to breathe.

Hosts & Carriers

The disease is mainly carried by Dragonettes, but seems to only jump over to humanoids when the Dragonettes are very sick from lack of proper care.

Prevention

Best prevention is hygiene. One should wash themselves and their clothes after working with a sick Dragonette, and the best way to prevent a sick Dragonette is proper animal husbandry.

Epidemiology

Before it was known how the disease was picked up and spread, settlements with Dragonettes would have the occasional outbreak of Dragon's Lung. Once the connection to Dragonettes was discovered and proper hygiene protocol was was implemented, cases drastically decreased.
