While the majority of Wood Elves have a deep fear of being anywhere near the forest floor there are still reasons to descend out of the trees. When this is required the 'Elven Ground Scouts' are often involved. From collecting special herbs, rescue missions, etc, the 'Elven Ground Scouts' are vital to Wood Elf society. However not all appreciate their role.

Perception

Purpose

The 'Elven Ground Scouts' were created for the sole reason to travel to the forest floor and complete tasks that the rest were too terrified to complete. They are also the one's to run the elevators that connect the Wood Elf's towns to the forest floor.

Social Status

While the 'Elven Ground Scouts' complete tasks vital to their society many Wood Elves view them with distrust. For a Wood Elf to be able to head down to the forest floor and not be terrified beyond hysterics is an odd thing indeed. The new adults are seen as reckless and naive, while veterans are thought to be untrustworthy, or have some kind of connection to the monsters that stalk far below. However when someone falls out of the tree, or a sick individual requires medicine made from a plant only found on the forest floor, it is the 'Elven Ground Scouts that these individuals go to first.

Demographics

The majority of the 'Elven Ground Scouts' are young adults. Few survive to old age, for eventually many are picked off by monsters or other dangers. Those that survive the dangers of the job are both high respected and feared.

Workplace

The 'Elven Ground Scouts' typically have a bunk house and office nook near the lower levels of the Wood Elves arboreal village and near the elevator. Here scouts can rest between missions and villagers can request their services.

Dangers & Hazards

Every trip down to the forest floor is an extremely dangerous event, and many scouts meet an early demise.
