Urram

Urram is the home of the Dwarves and Drow. While much of the outside lands are frozen and rocky, the inhabitants of Urram have found a way to create homes within the mountains, which house a variety of valuable resources.

Structure

Urram runs under an indirect elective monarchy. The citizens vote for each member on The Stone Council which then votes to elect someone as king from a list of potential candidates. While the King can make executive and legislative decisions, The Stone Council does have the right to veto those decisions with a simple majority vote.

Public Agenda

Urram open to trading with the outside world, but refuses to forge alliances with any other nation with the exception of Drakon's Heart.

History

Urram has always been home to two races: Dwarves and Drow. The two races have no love for one another and as a result, many civil conflicts have come from this nation. Before the Years of Darkness, the two attempted to live within the Lowly Mountains. However, the drow quickly betrayed that trust and the two went to war. The drow emerged victoriously and the dwarves were forced out onto the surface. The drow would have likely pushed them further if not for the intervention of the Ancient Kingdoms. The drow did try to push out of the mountain, but the united power of the surface races proved difficult to overcome, so they continued to expand their vast underground cities.

When the Darkness arrived, the drow and dwarves fought alongside one another. The drow even offered them sanctuary in the mountain as the darkness overwhelmed the surface world. Unfourtantly, this turned out to be a ruse. Shortly after the darkness was defeated, the drow took advantage of their allies' trust and began to slaughter them. Those that were left were taken as slave labor and with every nation recovering from the battle with the darkness, no one could step in to stop them. Shortly after the victory over the dwarves, the drow turned to Thylodis and launched an invasion in an effort to take their riches. While they were able the northernmost part of Thylodis, there were unable to secure the Iron and gold mines, and rapid response from mercenaries and paladins of Abadar pushed the invading forces back. Next, they turned to the The United Northern Kingdoms and attempted to take their two eastern which were said to have deposits of adamantine. They succeeded in taking the city of Staninburg but Eyre proved to be too difficult to assault, so they chose to consolidate the gains that they had.

When the The Royalist Revolution  started, they helped fuel the war by supplying both sides with arms. They made a second push for Eyre, but once again failed. Around this time the Knights were currently caught up in The First Great Schism  but with the conflict's end, they were reunified and turned their sights toward the Drow. With a joint army made up of troops from the Dragon Knights, Thylodis, The Northern Kingdoms, and Füradern. With this joint army, they reclaimed the lands that the Drow had taken and forced them to sue for peace. As part of the agreement, they had to free the Dwarves and allow them to settle in the mountains. The Dwarves built their civilization, while the drow sat in the shadows, licking their wounds.

Demography and Population

Urram is mostly populated by dwarves, drow, and half-elves.

Territories

While a majority of the population resides inside the mountains, there are a few surface settlements and forts that help provide food and protection for the inhabitants inside the mountains.

Foreign Relations

Urram over the years has mostly been an isolationist nation, but it does enjoy a trading relationship with both Thylodis and Visn and they do recognize rider jurisdiction in their nation. The United Northern Kingdoms still holds a grudge over the drow invasion; however, this mostly due to the fact that Urram still holds some of the lands that were taken.

Agriculture & Industry

Within the Lowly Mountains, the forges never cease. Armor, swords, axes, and many other tools of war are churned from the mountains. It is through this that a majority of the money is made.

Infrastructure

Urram has a sort of "Highway" system of caves that go from town to town within the mountains. These systems were originally built by drow as means of rapid transit for their troops during wartime or raids. Although, a majority of the workforce for these tunnels were Drwaven slaves. These cave systems are well maintained and well lit; however, they can still be dangerous. Underground creatures can sometimes burrow in and cause collapse or attack travelers. Additionally, drow bandits will sometimes set up ambushes to attack travelers. Any of the known caves systems that might have led drow cities were collapse shortly after The Dwarven Revolt.

Urram is one of the two nations that have a source of adamantine and know how to work it. In addition to adamantine, they also have a surplus of mundane minerals such as coal and iron. They have also discovered small Inferium deposits in the mountain but few know how to work it, so most it sold to Visn .
