Darkspawn

The darkspawn are creatures originating from below the ground, even way below the Deep Roads of the Dwarven Kingdom. Not much is known about their origins, only that their appearance roughly coincides with the Magister Sindereal's ascend to the Golden City. An actual link between the two events hasn't been proven without any doubts left until this day though.
The darkspawn can be categorized into a variety of sub-types, all with their own specific physical and mental characteristics - although most of them aren't exactly known for their intelligence and more a sense for darkness and destruction.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Not much is known about what the darkspawn needs to feed on to survive, or if they require food to live at all. There are reports of them consuming human flesh, yet it is not clear if this happens as an act of feeding and survival or more as the instinct to destroy. The latter theory is supported by the fact that the darkspawn originates from so deep beneath the earth that encountering living beings seems impossible; so it might be that they don't need to eat at all or that humans are only a part of their diet.
