Ander
The Anderfels region of the Tevinter Imperium used to be an independent kingdom. Similarly, most of its inhabitants excel in a certain stubborness and a wish for an independent life.
Naming Traditions
Feminine names
Adelheide, Anke, Gunda, Jana, Julia, Klara, Korinne, Marliss, Narika, Teresa, Thea
Masculine names
Axel, Detlef, Ewald, Friedal, Gerlach, Hager, Janko, Konrad, Konstantin, Otwin, Raimund, Valentin, Velker
Family names
Most commoners don't have a family name and rather identify through their trade or place of origin (Hager the Smith, Klara of Hemstetten). There is no true Ander nobility left at this point, so family names aren't that important either in a social context.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
The official language spoken in the Anderfels these days is Tevene, although Ander as a language is kept alive just as much and is usually preferredly used amongst each other. Most Ander are also capable of the trade tongue, particularly those who have a background of trading with outsiders.
Ideals
Relationship Ideals
Life has been harsh in this area of the Imperium even before the Blight. You have to fight hard to see your adult years. People get married young and have many children, of whom not all usually reach adulthood.
People do marry out of love, but "status symbols" like one's own farm or trade, or any other secure source of income and food usually play an important part too. It is also common for people these days to marry only within their own communities, because travel has become dangerous - but this comes with its own implications and inbreeding could become a problem in the next generations.
