The Feywild

"Fairies are creatures so deeply rooted in the local custom as to make one believe they might actually exist. However, we know there is no such thing as a Fairy anywhere in Ancaepya. So might there be another world where they live and thrive? Might there be multiple such worlds?" ~Beitris of Carcalles: The Fey - Fact or Fiction?

Geography

The Geography of the Feywild is highly confusing. Many magical scholars and theoreticians claim it is but an echo of the Material Plane, however, others believe its geography is unique. The question has never been answered, mostly due to the Draconic Church, which claims the Material Plane is the only one in existence apart from the Dragon Eyrie where the Gods reside. Because of this, no research into other Planes can be published and the Feywild has remained a mystery.
Recently trade has begun developing between an area of the Feywild known as the Eladrin Plains and Ancaepya. The Eladrin Plains are one of the only areas on the Plane with an organized state in control of it, even though the Eladrin consider themselves a free people and their Queen is more of a figurehead than an actual monarch.
The Plains are a wide expanse of grasslands surrounding the Enhe Ethill (the Ethill river), with the Deep Feywild to the east, the Triari Mountains to the north, and the Meihnne Sathyr (the Satyr Woods) to the west and south. Five extremely tall mountains aptly named the Five lay just inside the Plains on their eastern border.
The Feywild is always bathed in twilight as if the sun is always setting (or rising), which gives the place its distinct appearance of unearthly beauty.

Localized Phenomena

The Feywild seems like it is caught in an everlasting spring, its flowers always in bloom and their colours more vibrant and saturated than on the Material Plane. However, the locals know that the flora and fauna do indeed go through cycles, the growth spreads, ages, and even dies.
The animals and plants live in harmony and the ecosystem is fully balanced. All of the intelligent creatures who inhabit the Feywild are deeply connected to the Plane and do nothing to disturb this balance. Everything, from construction to food production, is done through magical means in a sort of exchange with the land.

Fauna & Flora

There are many species of plants, animals, and intelligent beings in the Feywild. Though many are Fey or have some sort of Fey ancestry, some have different origins.
The Fey are the native inhabitants of the Feywild. They are creatures of supernatural abilities and a deep connection to nature. Their language is called Sylvan. Some examples of the Fey include Nymphs, Hags, Redcaps, Sprites, Gremlins, Satyrs, Spriggans...
Eladrin are elves that inhabit the Feywild. Some scholars believe them to be ancestors of other elves, while others suggest they might have immigrated to the Feywild later. They are similar to High Elves, yet they have a much higher degree of Fey magic at their disposal. They are the only race in the Feywild to create any kind of organized state.
Pixies are wild Sprites who live in small communities far inside the Deep Feywild. They are curious creatures and so many travel from their homes to explore the world, at least for a time. Individuals and small groups of pixies can be found all across the Feywild.
Satyrs live throughout the Feywild but they originate in the forest of Meihnne Sathyr, around which most of them still live. They live in small communities and try to enjoy life to the fullest, also often traveling from their home. Recently many have become diplomats, bards, and traders, slowly earning goodwill among Ancaepya's population.
Goblins and Ogres can be found in the Feywild mountain ranges.
The Feywild is connected to many worlds in the Material Plane and as such many travelers use it as a transit point, so you can find many other strange races and creatures on the Plane.
