Aelfs

The True Elves of Anatéli

They may be seen as a flittering shadow, dancing just out of sight at break and close of day. They appear a pale and luminous form, as transient as a cloud. For many, aelfs are merely myths; fodder for the tales of gaffers and old maids, and they are somewhat correct, for aelfs occupy a space bordering on reality, shifting in and out as they please. They are spiritual creatures and therefore have no physical needs. As with all spiritual beings in Anatéli, they possess some degree of magical ability, the specifics of which vary widely from aelf to aelf.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Aelfs take on a humanoid form but are much smaller than the average person.

Ecology and Habitats

Aelfs are found in the highest concentrations in Wényara but can be found throughout Anatéli's wilderness, be it river, forest, or mountain.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Men, while ordinarily unable to use any sort of magic, have succeeded in binding themselves to aelfs and exercising their natural powers vicariously. The binding must occur with the consent of both parties. Because of this, and since few humans seriously acknowledge the existence of Aelfs, the phenomenon is extremely rare.

History

Much remains a mystery regarding the Aelfs, although it is speculated that their origins lie with the Sabacha. They have existed in Anatéli for as long as anyone can remember, and it is thought that their presence was much greater in the past, when the Titans still ruled in Deklonia. Since the dawn of their existence, they have been ruled by Ymilon, king of the aelfs.
