Modern Anarand Empire
The Modern Anarand Empire is the spiritual successor of the ancient Lir'Anarand, established shortly after the War for Anarand'aris ended. It was created mostly as a last desperate effort by the Ran'a'shan to bring together the remnants of the destroyed civilization of Anarand'aris, and to limit the increasing infighting between the newly risen warlords, cults, and theocratic sects.
Today, the Anarand Empire is a loose assembly of thirty-six geopolitical areas, fondly referred to as the Enlightened Realms. For the most part, the Realms govern themselves with little intervention by their imperial rulers. However, all the Realms are required to follow the Anarandian Sacred Laws with some allowance for extensions and local alterations. Also, in all the Realms, there is an established presence of the Tribunal—the judiciary body of the Empire—which by law handles all the major legal cases and disputes, and can intervene in any judicial issue at their own discretion.
