Lurgee
The aftereffects of having been manipulated by an empath or psychic, Lurgee can feature fatigue, confusion, anxiety, irritability, depression, memory loss, and feeling "out of place". These effects can last for a few hours and can be abbreviated or cured with a good nap and lunch (or whatever restorative, if a sunbath for photosynthesis is your thing, yanno).
Rarer symptoms include feeling as if their body is not their own (especially in those not particularly well-attached to their physical bodies in the first place), rage, mania, paranoia, psychosis, or hallucinations. These usually do not last more than a few days, but there have been reports of permanent effects. These cases are rare, and are almost always the result of someone ridiculously powerful being an absolute dick to some poor level zero peasant.
The onset will be sudden, and can happen with even the most well-intentioned of empathetic cheering up, if the subject doesn't have the energy it takes to handle the flux. Depending on the spell, the subject may or may not remember being under control or influence, or may not remember it as being under control or influence. None of that has effect on symptoms (except maybe irritability having a good target), though a 'friendly fire' incident is usually not as bad simply because the limits weren't pushed as hard (unless you've got an untrained empath ham-fisting it, but that's another matter entirely.)
The afflictors can be sorcerers, wizards, psychics, empaths, bards who are any good at their jobs, and even just pain in the ass manipulative people. Most cases are presumed to be the work of wild-born empathy-magicians or Enchanters, both of which are extreme cases (one being pure accident and the other being pure malice), and communities that develop a rash of instances can and will divide themselves amongst those hostile and those friendly to the magician, even before the magician or their methodology is revealed.
It's not odd for a completely innocent empath to be ousted as a precaution out of fear, either, and it can be difficult for a wandering psychic to find a place to be before they get control of their powers. Some smaller places will have the ability running in a bloodline and can normalize in an area, but any attempts to gather amongst one another tends to compound this effect amongst them, as they themselves are not immune to being drained in this fashion.
