The World Winter

Summary

Long before the kingdoms of Avalyra and Tocuria were formed, when the people of Amion were divided even more than they are now, the gods are said to have been more direct with their worldly interactions. One such tale of the gods interfering in the world is the legend of the World Winter, stories of a time the goddess Vyrra tried to curse Amion into an endless winter, and would have succeeded if not for Indea sealing away the power. It is said that somewhere in The Silver Peaks lies a shrine to Indea, where she sealed the untamed magic that caused the World Winter.

Historical Basis

Very little information about the world before the kingdoms can be found anywhere, though there exist snippets reporting on a terrible winter some time before the Gaillard/Tocuria schism. What little information that has been uncovered by scholars tells of ice and snow covering much of the world for at least a year, though other reports tell of it lasting over a decade.
