Vegathal Gathakunta

Session 3: The Replacements

We made our way back to town and found Hrin. We showed off our trophies and mourned our losses. She introduced us to three new adventurers who she encountered earlier that day. Two dwarves, Jarkax and Izaak, as well as a Tabaxi named Shadow Something Something Island Clan. Shadow was a friend of Z which raises concerns about this man's intentions. Also, Shadow is a man even though he has many feminine characteristics. And he has thumbs. Jarkax reminds me of comedian but not a funny one. Quick witted and ready for anything. He was very concerned about the lack of ballistae. Izaak seems like a honorable warrior. A worthy addition to our party. As I studied the space ship metal I was able to discover that this was part of the ship's navigation system. It was still functional and displayed a map of two galaxies. I was able to manipulate it and discovered three constellations: a dragon, a chalice, and an archer. These all pointed to the same focal point, a star named that shared the name of my mother, Varrea. From this star I was able to see Ursa Major. I now believe that I never left my home planet. I may be able to find home again. Hrin revealed a few new opportunities that we could pursue. A murder in Easthaven, the second largest town. There were some fishermen who went missing. And a wizard might have done it and they are going to burn him. And there is a guard captain that might have more knowledge. I don't quite remember all the details and I may have actually confused two different things. There was some strange message in Caer-Dineval. Speaker Cranick's name was mentioned. And something about a note with the right handwriting but not the right words. Hrin was displeased with Sander Foss who is running for the new town speaker. We learned from Jarkax that Sander was paying people to take dives. Much of the group thought this was an organized fight and we planned to enter and bet for ourselves and win the fight. But we encountered Sander on the road and he was just fighting guards in front of onlookers to prove how tough he was. He wasn't. We beat the shit out of him, literally. We drug him back to town where Adriel convinced the townsfolk that he was a bad man.

Session 2: Friends Lost

The rabbit made it out of the grasp of the bear, but we were discovered. Heroically, Hringol leapt into battle and as the party assaulted the bear it met it's doom to Hringol's axe. The giant within the cave must have heard us or his beast and came out of the cave as we ended his "fren's" life. Z and others struck true on the giant and it retreated back to his lair. We all readied ourselves for battle as Adriel called upon Snowflake to gain us an advantage. The giant was attempting to flank our position. Z used this knowledge to take the giant head on and ran into the adjacent cave. We lost sight of him and only heard his cries from within. The rest of the party tried to take advantageous positions and surround the giant while staying out of range of his brute force. But the giant was too quick for Grelin and he met his end as well. Hringol stuck the giant and the giant struck back. But the gaint had won the duel and Hringol had met his end. The party of 6 quickly turned to the party of 3. Mishaan had snuck into the cave to tend to Z, only to return alone seconds later. The giant rushed towards me and had his blade not met the might of a goliath, I too would have met my end. But the strength of my lineage persevered. Adriel, Mishaan, and myself surrounded the giant and assaulted him, avenging our fallen friends. As we tried to catch our breaths, a demon erupted from the chest of Hringol. He had made comments in our adventures previous about the demon that lived inside him. I believed him to only be speaking in riddles. Turns out there was more to his words than I thought. We went to check on Z but dicovered not a half elf, but a doppelganger. He had hidden his true form from us. I quickly realized that the silver liquid dripping from the giant's weapon was the blood of Z. Adriel, Mishaan, and I investigated the rest of the lair. We found the metal that Adriel was so insistent of us recovering. It was the metal from the ship I came to this land on. As Adriel shared the reason he was here and Mishaan gave some insight into his past, I was overcome with emotion and let slip the fact that this metal was from the ship I arrived to this land on. I wasn't some great prophecy. I even told them I still lived with my parents. Adriel talked of a black castle. Mishaan conveyed a message of the north. But these allies agreed to not reveal my secret. I believe I have found true friends. I hope they do not die like my last friends. I hope I don't die either. We gathered our spoils and the remaining mead and headed back to Goodmead. As we crossed the place where we discovered the fallen militia was saw no bodies, only footprints. Adriel informed us that this was the work of frost magic. There is still much to be uncovered in this land, old gods help us.

Session 1: The Yeti

Hringol, Mishaan and I arrived in Goodmead. Grelin arrived with a group of his own, Adriel and Zynn. All the townsfolk were huddled inside the mead hall. In the center of the room was the bee hive. The body heat is the only thing keeping them alive. As we began to ask for Hlin, a man covered in bees directed us to the temple. We ventured to the temple and found Hlin along with a body ripe with spear wounds. She informed us that 3 barrels of mead had gone missing and tasked us with the retrieval. But she had sent another group before us. During our conversations with Hlin she let it be known that she was unsure if one of us would actually show up for the job. I believe we may have at least one who is pretending to be someone, or something, they are not. A man arrived in town, filled with fear and informed us that he found the previous party. They were all dead. We began to follow the trail. We arrived at the scene of the slaughter and after much deliberation, determined that a yeti was involved. But we also found boot prints from a large creature. And the wounds were not the wounds that a yeti would make. We followed the tracks to an series of caves surrounded by what must have been the skull and tusks of an enormous mammoth. As we began to plan our approach, a yeti appeared and nearly caught me with his gaze. He charged at me and nearly killed me. But the party slayed the beast before it could finish me off. Adriel called upon his familiar, a rabbit that I named Snowflake. Adriel informed us that the mead was in deed inside, as well as a giant, his pet bear, and a dwarf roasting over a fire. He was extremely interested in recovering some metal that he believed to not be of this world. As we wait patiently for the giant to have his fill and bed down for a night's rest, the bear discovered Snowflake.
